So it was really cold today (about 2 degree C) and my hands shrank!! My RH ring finger is usually a 4.75 and I previously thought it was a 5, so that's what I aked Leon for and I think he was a bit generous with the sizing and it ended up about 5.25! With the cold weather, I think my finger shrank to about 4.50 and when I pulled my gloves off today, it slipped off my hand but I didn't even notice that the ring wasn't on my hand anymore as I was too busy dealing with other stuff. It wasn't until I went to put my gloves back on that I noticed something stuck in one of the fingers of the glove. I pulled it out and there it was, my ring!!

I don't even have insurance as it's not possible to get jewellery insurance where I now live.

Talk about lucky!! I shudder to think what could have happened!!!

Phew!! But wow, have you posted pics of this ring somewhere, sounds like a stunner!

Yowzers! I''m glad your glove saved it for you!

Holy smokes...good thing it was in your glove! Have you looked at adding it as a rider to your house/tenant insurance policy if it''s possible? That''s what I have and it''s next to nothing to add it on. At least you got peace of mind.

Also, got pics of this stunner?

*gasp* Thank goodness you were wearing gloves in the first place or it might have just slipped off!!

Glad it wasn''t lost!

thank goodness for the glove!

Ohmigosh my jaw just dropped for you!!

I think this is a sign that, yes, indeed, a new setting is in order.. perhaps in a 4.75 :)

OMG - is that not the most horrible feeling !! ugh..

I misplaced my diamond hoops (4cts) yesterday. I tore my house apart trying to find them. I remembered taking them off
because they were hurting my ear lobes, but I couldn''t recall what I did after that. I found them hours (and messed up house)
later on a window sill - stuck between the blind and sill next to the toilet

Too much info? I am frequently tearing
up the house because I take off my jewelry and don''t put it where it belongs.

Phoenix, I am so glad you had on those gloves girl! And I know what you mean about Leon''s sizing - mine is big too.

Whoa

So glad you found it!!

Oh my!! Glad you didn''t lose it!

I''d be having a nervous breakdown right now if I were you! lol

If you really lived in Phoenix, your fingers wouldn''t shrink that much

Actually, mine have been pretty frozen here too. I''ve moved my ER over to my right hand, when they get cold!

Be careful, and I hope your heart rate comes back to normal soon:-)

Dayum Phoenix....

I am glad that you didn''t actually lose it, lose it!! Phew, talk about a close call. Get some sizers on that bad boy quick!!

My heart stopped when I saw the title of this thread!!!

Then I thought, "Nooooo, it couldn''t be her gorgeous pear!!!"

And it was.

I''m so relieved for you that you found it. You heartache could have been someone else''s lottery, LM setting and all!

Oh wow! I am so glad that you noticed it before something terrible happened!

Whew! Lucky catch

oh phoenix - good thing you found it!

I''ve decided (very begrudgingly) to leave my ring at home... maybe I can get a new band lol

can you get a guard band? like a really thin band that is small enough to hold it in place?

I almost lost my antique plat & diamond art deco watch today. It fell off in the Target bag luckily and I found it at the bottom after I'd put everything away! Still, not as scary as what you lost Phoenix

I actually lost my 3 1/2ct OEC a few months ago. Lost a lot of weight, was lazy about resizing, it fell off in the livingroom and I didn't notice for about 12 hours. Then when I noticed at work I totally freaked out and all my co-workers were like "Dear god, go home and find that thing!" Two hours of panicked searching later, I found it under the couch.

Get that thing insured Phoenix! Glad you found it, how scary.

OMG!

Omg how scary!!! My mom just lost her original ering which was just under 1 carat (and insured)

. They had just celebrated their 27th anni too. Thankfully she still has her 2 carat diamond ring which was a present from my dad a couple years ago.

I agree - a guard band is in order! Even if it is not the precise look you want, I think the peace of mind is worth it!

OMG, thankfully you found it!!

Thank you very much, everyone, for your kind and comforting words!!

Yes, I think my heart jumped to my throat for a moment or two!!

Setell and LittleGreyKitten, unfortunately, I really can't get insurance in China at all on my jewellery, either as a stand-alone policy or as a rider to our home insurance. It's really quite horrible!!
5.gif

Cehra, I think you're doing the right thing. It'd be just too much of a risk. As for my pear ring, I've decided to wear my sized 4.50 eternity band on my RH outside of my pear ring, as a guard band as you've mentioned. Hopefully, that should keep my pear ring from slipping off my finger.

Bebe, I'm so glad you've found your diamond hoops. Isn't that a horrible feeling, thinking that you've lost yr bling?!

LittleGreyKitten, I'm so glad you've recovered yr watch and OEC ring. OMG, you must have been out of your mind!!

Ndpwood, ha ha, ain't that the truth!

Burberrygirl, I'm so sorry to hear that your mom lost her original ering. Happy to hear that it was insured and that she still has her 2ct ring present from yr dad.

I've also decided not to wear my BGD studs and already I'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms!!
7.gif
But better that than losing my precious studs. In the meantime, I've asked Brian and Lesley to recut my 1-caraters and reset them into bezelled earrings. They're still quite precious but at least they didn't cost as much as my BGD studs. Hopefully, that should go some way towards appeasing my withdrawal symptoms!!
