IMG_8902.JPG IMG_8898.JPG Hello I'm new to this so hopefully I posted in the correct place. But how can you tell the quality of diamonds if you're just a regular person like me. I will attatch some photos if I could get some key points to look for that would be helpful :)

Without certification on the diamonds, I'd say you need to go with what pleases your eye. How does it sparkle? Is it lively? Does the setting feel solid & well made?

Get a professional appraisal (or look at a copy of the receipt). IMO it's the only good way to know exactly what you have.

But specs won't tell you whether or not you personally find the ring to be pretty. My e-ring cut would not make PS standards (It's a 0.44 carat I SI2, bought years before I would have even thought to fuss much about cut quality) and yet it is really pretty to me.

If you want to start shopping at own shops, you might want to purchase a loupe from Amazon or somewhere for under $20. Then you can look at stones and see if there are like a million chunks or not. You can get also an ASET scope for a bit more to help determine cut quality.

But if it's pretty and the price is right, it doesn't have to be a super ideal branded stone to get enjoyment from it.
