Gday guys,

So my fiance (still can''t get used to saying that!!) proposed on Sunday, and looks like we''ll be getting married April 26th 2009!

I am desperately in need of advice and organising tips! Im quite a ''laidback larry'' and if someone doesnt kick me up the rear end Im more than likely to turn up to my own wedding wondering why theres no food, wine or minister!!

So, where do I start? Is there a good order to tackle things in? My family also live in another state so Im going it alone a bit on this one! My fiance is wonderful, but also quite laidback, so as a pair we make a sort of organising nightmare.

So far we have decided on the date, the location (mr.aussie''s cattle and sheep property) and a church (provided its available, but it only has a service every 2nd week because of the small congregration so I''m hoping it will be fine!).

Lay it on me girls, I need your help please!!!

Looking forward to sharing in all your journeys, and I LOVE looking at all the pics!! You PS bunch all have such beautiful weddings!!

Cheers,

Aussie

Hello my dear,

First off, congrats on the engagement!

I was also engaged this weekend, so we will be very close in all the planning stages that we have. You said you picked your venue so you are right on track with that. I haven''t even booked my venue yet, but due to the fact that I will be having an out-of-state wedding and need to travel to view my potential site, I can''t pick mine till the next few weeks. Anyway, if you pick up any bridal planning book, that should help you. But, first things first, order your dress ASAP, b/c they tell you to get that AT LEAST 6 months out. Otherwise, here is a list of everything that "should be done" by six months out:

16 to 9 Months before:
-Start a wedding folder
-Work out the budget
-Build your wedding party
-Settle on a headcount
-Hire a planner, if desired
-Book the officiant
-Research photographers, caterers, florists and bands
-Throw engagement party
-Book the date and venue

8 Months Before:
-Book the photgrapher and videograpehr
-Book entertainment
-Register for gifts
-Purchase a dress
-Start meeting caterers
-Reserve block of hotel rooms, if needed
-Launch a wedding website

6 to 7 Months Before:
-Purchase invitations and hire a calligrapher, if desired
-Plan your honeymoon
-Shop for bridesmaid dresses
-Meet w/ officiant
-Send save-the-date cards
-Reserve structural and electrical necessities
-Book a florist
-Procure transportation
-Start composing day of timeline

I hope that helps you. Do keep me abreast of your plans, and we can check things off our list together!

ditto what dcgator said, except for the timeline (since it''s so close!) I would cut the timeline in half (instead of 9 months out, it will be more like 4.5 months out for you and so on) Also go start trying dresses on ASAP! And take lots of pictures for us to drool over (that''s actually mandatory, i swear!) and have fun :)
