gosh,,, I''m so anxious.. I left a poor review because they never responded and finally called Ebay and Ebay just refund my money (albeit very minimal)... after an item sent was broken due to poor packaging as the box was unharmed... anyhow right after I left the review she contacts me asking what the??? and that she was out of town.. however, she was able to respond immediately after the reveiw I left. do you even respond back?

How long did you wait for her to reply to your email about the damaged items?

well its been 5 days... but I contacted her over 10 days ago initially... just kep waiting and waiting......

ETA- Item purchased and paid for 16 days now

I would just ignore her and document the whole thing with photos.

It''s been ten days since you reported the problem to her and haven''t gotten a response in that time?

If so, I don''t think you did anything wrong. I do agree with Gypsy and I think you should document all interactions with the seller.

Folks, there''s a reason Ebay allows you to give negative feedback. As a buyer you shouldn''t use the power lightly, but you also shouldn''t be afraid to use the feature. The seller can respond to negative feedback with justification after the fact.

I would just tell her you had been trying to contact her for a week and she never got back to you so you went through eBay/PayPal. She really has no right to be nasty to you when she''s the one who didn''t get back to you in time!

I had a situation where the seller failed to send my item and did not respond to email. I emailed 3 times over about 10 days and then filed the complaint with ebay. I then heard from the seller and she said she had been out of town with a sick mother in the hospital or something. She refunded my money and apologized, and I did not leave negative feedback. I just try to give a little time to resolve things before leaving negative feedback.

well the first time i emailed her to let her know the item broke, she was very rude the first time... so ever since, after 3-4 emails later no resolution,, kept telling me she''d refund, to no avail...

If the seller deserved, in your honest opinion, the review you gave, why are you worried about it now?

If you spoke the truth, then you''ve given someone else a head''s up on purchasing from this seller. If you blew things out of proportion to the situation, then you should be contrite. But only if.

I never understand the "i'm out of town" excuse for ignoring ebay messages - do they not have internet in this other town?!
urghh..

I''d try to ignore it. Definitely document everything but if she didn''t get back in contact with you , I don''t think you did anything wrong.

Whatever she sent/ sends you- save it.

Otherwise, do not reply.

That's my advice.

i just couldn''t sleep,, because it bothered me soo much and I never have ever given a bad review before as this is the first incident I''ve had in the 300 some items I''ve purchased. I asked Ebay as well about what to do with the item, and they said that normally you should send it back in order to get your refund but in my case with the seller not responding, they refunded me regardless (and the seller attacked by saying that "I was under the imipression that you had to return the item back in order for a refund),,, but in this case ask the seller to reimburse you for postage. but then got another email from the seller, and she doesnt have an active working email address??? outside of ebay so I couldn''t send any pictures, however I finally just responded and that will be my last to let her know that per ebay that they request I ask her for reimbursement for mailing the item back if not, then I''m just going to toss it.

Thanks everyone for backing me up

We had the same problem, they werte not answearing the e-mails at all, anf after a while the say that the wife was sick in the hospital. I just for me is hard to belive that, they always say that someone is sick. They told us she made the sell, and since she was in the hospital he can not do anything about it

, at the end we just kept the broken item. I just think it''s not fair, and sometimes i do not belive what they say. It''s frustated. We left a negative feedback, and they were very dissapointed as well.

Don''t be anxious. If this person wanted to be a responsible seller, she would have an email address outside of ebay and would not send rude messages. Her response would also not be ''I thought you had to send the item back for a refund!!'' Instead it would be, ''Oh, I am so sorry the item broke - here is a return shipping label and I''ll refund your money then.'' Or, ''Here please send me picture of the broken item at this address and I''ll refund your money.'' Etc. Also, she would not berate you if you tried to contact her and she was out of town. She would apologize for being unavailable and take it as a lesson to make sure someone is checking her email while away if she is a regular ebay seller so this doesn''t happen again.

Anywho. Don''t waste your emotional energy feeling bad about this. As long as you were fair and accurate in your feedback, and had resonable expectations of the seller (that were not met), you are in the clear.

Thing is, she gets to state her case anyway. Don''t worry, you have to call it as you see it. That''s how the system works!! Sounds like you were careful and considered in your opinion. Don''t sweat!
