My photographer said a couple of months before is just fine. Is this the guideline that some of you have used? The wedding is in October so should I be aimig for August? or end of July?

We took ours at the end of April for our August 2nd wedding...Our photog is super busy lately with a ton of work, so it took him nearly a month to get the photos edited and up on his website for us to view - so i would suggest to ask your photographer about the timeline between the actual photoshoot and the time that you''ll get to see your pics.

But if he/she is pretty quick, I think beginning of August would be fine!

We took ours in April for our November wedding. But that''s really just because we were going on vacation at the same time. Plus it''s so hot and humid here that summer pictures (and weddings) are hard for me to take.

We did our the beginning of May for our August wedding only because our photographer was going on vacation in June and July. I think it really depends on the schedule of your photographer and how quickly they can edit your photos and get them back to you.

We took ours in October 2007 for our August 2008 wedding, but we wanted pictures with the foliage changing colors and our photographer gets super busy. I would ask your photographer how long it takes to get the photos back to you. Also, if you want them in more "fall-like" weather, I'd wait until as late as possible.

We actually did ours one year before the wedding (April 09). We wanted to have the pics early so we could use them for our save the dates and website. I''m glad we did it this way because its one less thing to worry about. Also, the photog took a while to get them back to us but we were not in a hurry so it was fine.

We did ours a bit more than a year before our wedding. We got engaged at the beach while on a family vacation with DH''s family and we already had a family portrait scheduled to be taken. Extra poses were no extra charge so we figured, why not?! I''m glad we did it that way because now I have memories from our engagement trip!

We got engaged a year ago in May, had our engagement photos done last August, and we''re getting married in just under 3 weeks. I don''t think we needed to do them quite so far out, but my mom really wanted to put an engagement announcement in my hometown newspaper.

we got married in nov. and did them in aug.

We did some in May and a few more just last week, and our wedding is in August. One thing I didn''t consider was how soon we should send our announcement for the paper (is it just my mom and FMIL, or is this a *really big deal* everywhere?). I really wanted to check off "announcment info to paper" on our list. :) My photog. is a good friend, though, so he edited the photos immediately and put them up on flickr for all the world to see!

9 months before the wedding. We want some "summer in the city" type photos :)

We just had ours taken with our wedding photographer this past Sunday for our 9/13 wedding. However, very shortly after we were engaged we had a friend take some photos of us at the location where FI proposed so that we would have some cute pics for our wedding website (plus we weren''t sure if we''d be getting a pro to do them later). Our photographer told us it''ll probably be 3-4 weeks before we see the photos given her current work load.

Really, I think it depends on 1) what you hope to use the photos for if anything other than your personal enjoyment, 2) your photographer''s turnaround time, and 3) any other time-sensitive factors (like weather, vacations, work, etc). I don''t think this is a one size fits all kind of decision.
