Back in high school in the 70s Driver''s Education was required.
If you passed you got a learner''s permit, which allowed you to drive if a licensed adult was in the car.
Six months later you could apply for a real license.
I got my learner''s permit when I was 15 and drove as much as I could. I was 17, though when I got my license and could drive without an adult sitting shotgun. Now that my own daughter is 15, she does not want to get her permit, but we live in the DC area, and there''s a lot of scary traffic.
16. Everyone in the midwest gets their license at 16.
I noticed here in California a lot of kids don''t have their full license until they are 18. Their are restrictions on permits at 16, like no other passengers under 18.
16.5 in Ohio (or at least this is how it used to me) you could not get your permit until 16. Driver''s ed was also required but I think you could be 15.5 to take the classroom portion.
