You know-with life changes comes changes in the bedroom as well. Stress is a factor-being pregnant is a factor-having a baby is a factor-having kids running around-working long hours plays into it-so I think at different points in ones life this answer can vary considerably.

I think the most important thing is that both parties feel satisfied in that aspect of the relationship (and if they aren't-they feel comfortable enough with their spouse to communicate their needs and both parties figure out something that works for them). And the term "sex" can be thought of in many different ways. Right now I WISH I was interested in having sex all the time-but I'm not. This baby growing inside of me is taking up space and making me VERY uncomfortable. Does that mean it was like this before-or will continue to be like this afterwards? I sure hope not-but one thing is for sure is it varies from couple to couple. I've had friends who have to have it a few times a week and anything less is unacceptable to them and their relationship. Others I know have it a few times a month-or even every other month and it works just fine for them since they have kids and don't have much "alone" time.

And while I think sex is very important in a relationship I believe that there are other ways of being intimate and being satisfied without having sex. Many couples wait until they are married and have very long courtships and don't feel a lack of love or intimacy. I believe it can bring it to a different level and it's an amazing and wonderful thing (especially with the right person) but I don't think the "amount" really has a whole lot to do with it (although for some it may) I find quality over quantity is more important to me

ETA: I didn't vote. I also think this is a very sensitive topic for many couples and wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't many voters/comments. Could be wrong though-wouldn't be the first time and it won't be the last

Agree with VL on pretty much all counts, with the addendum that now, having gone through almost the full "cycle" of female hormones, I'm fascinated by how the body adjusts during times of youth, fullness of fertility, pregnancy, and post-partum. If you'd asked me this question fifteen, ten, five, or even one year ago, I would have given you a different answer every time, and I presume the same will be true as we move in the opposite direction!

One thing I'd like to know ... adjusting for age and excepting outlying events (periods of sickness, stress, etc.), is it steadier for men? Would ask the hubs, but as he's away on business I'm afraid I'm in the "zero" category for the moment ....
