I''m a youngin, but it was about $1 gallon.

Around $1 a gallon or a little under. $10 could fill my car up. That was in 1991.

1.30-1.50?

I started driving in 1996/97- I think it was around .99 cents a gallon or so... $10.00 filled up my tank and it lasted me about 2 weeks!

Good grief DF, are you complaining about 59 cent unleaded gas or unleaded gas in general? You sure spend a lot of time being red and steamed. I didn't even HAVE a car until I was 3 years into college...

I started driving in '79, so.... 60 to 70 cents per gallon? But I don't recall all that well, because I didn't get to drive all that much. We only had my mom's car, so I got to drive it on short trips to the store, etc, mostly. I DO recall a local gas war or 2 when I was in gradeschool though. Gas got down to between 25 and 30 cents a gallon. It was VERY local though, not sure what caused it. Clearly it didn't last.

I don''t remember what it was when I started driving (1996), but do remember in 1999/2000 when gas was 87 cents a gallon where I was in KS. Four years later, it was 1.87. Four years after than, $3.63

. But better than the $4.04 I was paying a month or two ago in NC.

1969, I think it was around .39 a gallon. I know a bunch of GFs and I would pool our change, pull into the station and hand the attendant a dollar. We could drive all night on that. Every now and then there would be "gas wars" when stations would drop to .29 a gallon

Man, those were the days. They pumped for you AND cleaned your windshield.

yeah,b/c unleaded gas was thee most expensive type of gas back then.

You complain a lot DF.... maybe you should take a day off from griping and count your blessings. I''m sure you have more than a few.

i''m gonna vote for Obama just to make you happy. i love all the Dems here.

The lowest I remember was 89 cents.

oh geez, let''s see, 1972. Gas was cheap, maybe .29 gallon. I can remember gathering up a few quarters and putting some gas in mom''s car to go cruising
around the neighborhood!

0.97 a gallon!

I was just looking at some pics with the SO yesterday and one of his pics had a gas station sign in it with the gas prices. Most expensive in the picture was 2.39... I was like "Dang, that''s cheap!" and then I laughed at myself because I remember when 2.39 was EXPENSIVE/OUTRAGEOUS! lol.....

Believe it or not DF, I''m happy most of the time, gas prices and taxes notwithstanding. But the icing on my cake would truly BE if you voted for Obama. I''m sure it would just totally break my "Happy Meter". I might not even survive....

Of course the price for such ecstasy would be not long after, we''d discover than the fabric of space and time had ripped and the earth had recently stopped spinning on its axis, but for a few blissful minutes I and the Dems would be thrilled...

Hahahaha!!!! Wait a minute! I thought Dems LIKED taxes. Do you mean you''re not happy because you pay too little? Cause Obama is already talking about the tax rate being above 50% Haha...Sorry, I couldn''t resist. But, I am very curious. I always wonder what Dems think of taxes. I do mean this lightly...

I started driving at 15, shhhhh don't tell my parents. No wonder the driving instructor took a look at my driving skills once I hit 16 and said, OK then, let's hit the highway.
31.gif
Dad filled the gas tank. I believe it was less than a $1.00. Of course I could ask him, but his memory is failing. I do rememeber the long gas lines before I drove. Anyone remember those?? What was it, 1976 or so?? That was crazy. We had a gas station that would allow us to make an appointment. Boggles the mind.

I think about a buck a gallon. Started driving in 1982.

I remember the oil crisis and having to line up for gas, odd and even...it was horrible...lines down the block and stuff...but that was in the 1970''s. I was not driving then...

started to drive in 1977...gas about 60 cents gallon...but remember it being as low as 30 ish for along time....

I don''t remember exactly other than it was definately well under a dollar. I started driving in 1985.

I''m a baby--started driving in 2000--but gas was C-H-E-A-P around that time! I remember paying $0.86/gallon, which meant about $10 to fill up my car.
