on groceries per month? How many people does that feed?

I typically spend around 2-300 dollars per month on groceries. (That does not include going out to eat, fast food, etc...) It''s just me and my husband.

Between $1000 and $1500 per month for five people. Two of them being teenage boys.

My monthly grocery spending is probably between $150-200 a month, with another $150 or so for eating out for just me.

Around 400-600 per month, this is for a family of three.

about $300 on groceries per month plus about $800 eating out.plus, whatever my two daughters charge on my CC when they eat out.

depending on season...live Maine lobsters sell for $16-$20 per lb at most chinese restaurants around town.

$300 a month for hubby and I, although I noticed that when he was out of town, it definitely doesn''t get cut in half! Still about $200-$250!

$80 for 2 people.

We eat out a lot. But with the upcoming wedding I''m guessing the restaurant bill will go down and the grocery bill up

$300-$400/month for just DH and I. We''re trying to get this down to around $200.

$1000-$1400 per month for a family of 6, the oldest child being 8.

We spend about $300 for hubby and myself. So much of that is shampoo, paper towels, etc though.

We spend about $300 a month on groceries and eating out. There are just two of us.

Don''t even ask how much we spend on our animals.

Single, less than $120. That''s only because I eat breakfast, lunch, & dinner out every day for around $900/mo.

We do not eat out much (probably only once per month) and I''m a huge fan of organics, so for a family of four I WAS spending around $1,200 per month up until recently when I decided to try and cut that budget in half and buy less organics (but stick with all free-range/organic meats) but it''s been nearly impossible to entirely break the healthy food habit. I am hoping to cut down to $800 per month.

Weird question - but has anyone ever used a calculator when grocery shopping so when you get up to the check stand, you''re not finding yourself with a bill about twice as large as you thought it''d be? I was thinking of trying this, but I''d be embarrassed if anyone saw me!

i usually calculate it in my head...but you could use your phone, that wouldnt be as noticeable ya know, itd look like u were just texting or something..

I think we spend about $300 a month... We go to Sams and get amazing deals, if we got what we do at Sams at lets say Publix I think we''d be spending about $700 a month! :-) I just got his parents going to Sams now, its crazy what great prices u can get if u just buy in bulk and freeze! :-0

itd prob be less but BF loves chips and probably eats like 3 bags a week... he has the best metabolism ever, if I ate 1 bag a week, I dont wanna know, hahaha :-)

When we are home it''s around $300, it''s the two of us mostly. In Nantucket we pay a huge price for groceries, as they are brought over on Ferry boats. I''d say it''s triple the cost of what we buy here, plus we have two hungry kids and are always having people over. And go out to eat a lot. I don''t want to see the Visa bill......

$500 for bf and me on groceries. Dine out once a week about $60 each time (no alcohol) ($200 - 250 total). When my bf lived alone, he spent $150 on groceries. I eat like a cow! We are not big spenders on other things. For example, we don''t have a car.

About $350 a month for two people, but my fiance is the type of guy that can eat anything and stay thin!

I don''t see any problem if someone takes out a calculator in the grocery store.
Do you need to be a member to shop at Sams?

$300-$400/month for 3 people (one is a toddler). That includes all paper products, hygiene products, food, soda, wine, etc.

We rarely eat out. We don''t use vending machines.

150 a month total for just myself.

I don''t spend much on groceries...maybe $100 a month on cereal, yogurt, etc. I eat out for lunch every day and almost every dinner.

What does everyone eat that permits them to spend so little, such as only $300 a month? Am I doing something wrong? I spend almost half that much PER WEEK on meat alone, but we do not eat out. . .is that where the difference is?

We spend about $350/month. That''s for my husband & I, our 19 month old and 2 large dogs

We probably spend another $150/month eating out.

Please do tell where you are located (i.e. big city, small town, etc.). and Please do tell what you eat and where you shop. I wanna save too.

DH and I are on a major budget as he is in med. school, so we are living off my teacher''s salary (we spend $200 a month on food as previously stated). We eat dinner out about 3-4 times a month (but it''s at cheap places like Applebes, Fridays, Olive Garden, and 1-2 times takeout. DH buys his lunch maybe once a week or if he forgets his lunch.

Our groceries include food for:
Cereal for both of us for breakfast.
Bread, lunch meat, bagged salad, fruit, granola bars for lunch. We don''t do bottled drinks (which I think is a major savings).
Snack food like chips, cookies, yogurt, veggies and dip.
And we have a weekly dinner schedule. We eat chicken about twice a week, which is cheap. We make something with ground meat once a week (tacos, meat loaf, burgers), which is cheap. I make a huge pasta dish such as baked ziti, stuffed shells, or lasagna once a week, which then yeilds tons of leftovers. We also have one other pasta dish (like alfredo or in garlic oil) once a week. The other days we often do really simple dinners like egg bagels, frozen food, big salads, etc.
Side dishes for dinner include rice, fresh veggies, frozen veggies, etc.

We would like to eat more fish, but unfortunately right now we can''t afford it very often. So as you can see, it doesn''t look pretty, but it can be done!

We only spend about $150/month for just the two of us. When we shop we mostly buy dinner/meal items. BF works next door to a place that does package testing and one of their main clients is a snack food company. We get a lot of the products after they have been tested for suffiecient packaging. About half goes to the food bank and the other half they let employees take. Usually it''s things like every snack cracker you can imagine and cereal, but sometimes we get other goodies too like spaghetti sauce or other canned items! This cuts way down on our grocery bill!
