@Slick1 did the raccoon live indoors with you? Seems like they would make an interesting pet, never a dull moment!

Haha. Not the raccoon. We kept him in the kennel. Crazy days!

I have had 3 dogs and 2 cats in my life.
I’m definitely a equal opportunity fur baby lover. However, due to my husband and kids being highly allergic to cats, I have not been able to have cats after marriage.

HI:

Oh so many....dogs, cats, rats/gerbils (they were school pets, we kept them over school holidays) turtles, bunnies, fish. I also babysat the neighbours hamster when they went away.

My Dad was an absolute softie. Someone would tell him they couldn't keep their pet anymore, and he'd bring them home. We grew up in a small bungalow (with a huge yard for the critters)...my Mom wasn't always happy especially when they dug up the garden!

cheers--Sharon

Edited to add my dad’s pets....he raised Pigeons and doves...but I never considered them my pets because they stayed in their cage outdoors, and I couldn’t cuddle with them.

From childhood until now I had, a bunch of goldfish, 2 hermit crabs, 4 guinea pigs, 5 dogs, 2 cats, 2 snakes, and a bunch of millipedes.
Right now we have 2 dogs, a cat, a snake (had her 11 years), and millipedes.
We've had dogs all my life and we never thought about getting cats but we took in my grandma's cat after she passed away and the cat passed away in December so we adopted a cat.

2 cats and lots of tropical fish, lots of them had names, I particularly remember all our Plaostamus were called Boris, after Boris Karloff  Then as an adult we got our first dog, an Old English sheepdog. When DS was a child, he had goldfish, then desperately wanted a hamster, and guess who looked after them, 3 of them, Sandy, Smudge and Coco. Then 2 more Old English Sheepdogs, then our lovely Spinone who died last September. So for the first time in many years, we don’t have any pets at all:cry:

So sweet!
I didn't know the offered angel dogs, too.
I kind of want one with my kitties, too.

@KaeKae and @violet3 - Those mugs are beautiful! Would you be able to share where you got them? I would love to get one for myself.

I love this thread! Thank you to everyone for sharing your pictures and stories of the furbabies in your lives.

I've had 19 over the years - 12 cats and 7 dogs. I've loved animals with a serious passion from my earliest memories, but wasn't in a position to share life with my first cat until my 20s, and then my first dogs in my late 30s. When my husband and I married 13 years ago, I had 5 cats and 3 rough collies at the time (and he still married me)! I could never go back to not sharing my life and home with at least one. At the moment we're down to one collie (my avatar) and one 17-year-old cat - the last of the 5 from the time of our marriage. We're hoping to soon be able to go back to the collie rescue and add another collie.

One of my dreams - which I doubt will ever happen, because it would be so expensive! - would be to adopt one of the horses retired from racing that is not able to be ridden due to injuries. For my own health reasons, I'm not able to ride horses, so we would be perfect for one another. We could still love each other, go for walks together, etc., and if it would be safe for the horse, I could train it to pull some type of carriage and go off together that way.

Of my own? 1. I don't really count my parents dog (I only saw this dog when I was visiting from college...but hey the dog actually liked me!)

Thanks for sharing that link.
I actually just received mine last week, as a birthday present from my daughter. I was going to have to ask her where she got it, because I already threw out the box.
