I need 70 to cover everyone. What is a safe number to accommodate mistakes or last minute add ons?

I ordered about 13 extra and I only needed to use about 3 of them after the fact. I have about 10 laying around now. I wanted a couple for a scrapbook but I have way too many. I wouldn''t think you''d need more than say 5 more, depends on how many B-listers you have. I was worried about ''lost in the mail'' invites as well but I didn''t have any that were lost. We also used labels for the envelopes so all we had to worry about was having enough extra labels for any screw ups in that dept. Your wedding sounds bigger than mine though. I have 80 guests.

I went way overboard. I ordered 25 extra I think (but it was cheaper to get in multiples of 25 with my company). We did end up adding a few people, but I think I had about 18 left over after one was framed. Also, I don''t know if this is just the company I ordered from, but with almost all of pieces I ordered, they sent me a few more than I actually ordered...

Envelopes were different though, I did use a BUNCH of these due to mess ups.

I think it depends on where you order and what you are getting. The place we ordered from sells in bunches of 25, but getting 100 invites was not much more expensive than getting 75, so it made sense to get it in bunches of 100, the cheaper the cost/invite was. If you are getting someone to write address the invites, it might be nice to have a few extras. My girlfriend ordered 100 for a guest list of 90, and realized that she had forgotten some people on her invite list and ended up needing 105... I talked her out of ordering a new set and had her diy the extras. That worked out well.

I guess I''m not helping you much am i?

My advice if you know you only need 70, get 75. If you aren''t sure, get 100 if it''s not too much extra. You could save yourself time, money, and aggravation.

If you need 70...I''d order at least 80. I know that seems steep...but, you''ll probably want one as a keepsake, accidents happens, and incidentals do too...better safe than sorry!

Whew...for some reason I had it in my head that I would have to order 20-25 more. I think 10 extra should do the trick. Our invites are going to be somewhat pricey so I don''t want to waste any. I''m meeting with the stationer tonight I wanted to get opinions before they "tell" me what I should order. I should see if I can get extra envelopes. I have a few B listers but not many. Therefore 80 sounds good.

gtn, DIY the extras? Great idea! I don''t think this will be necessary, but in a worst case scenario I''d rather do that instead of paying an arm and a leg for reprints. That never would have occurred to me so thanks!

Not sure, but I would go to the next increment for the order, most places do 25 at a time.

Reason being, I got some back to me that were addressed wrong and post office did not deliver them, so I had to have them re done totally. Also, calligrapher made a couple of errors and needed extra envelopes which you can usually get by themselves without too much trouble. But most stationery places do increments of 25 or so, so you likely had to get 75 initially...unless I am mistaken, but I know for my son''s bar mitzvah they have minimum increments to order.

Check with your printer, since some build in "overruns." I think it''s usually about 10%. If your printer does this, you may not need to order extras separately, they would just come as part of your package.

We ordered 20 extra invitations and envelopes (inners and outers), and thank goodness we did--we used all but four of them!

There are some factors that will affect how many extras you''ll need. My mother hand calligraphied our envelopes, so she needed extras in case she made a mistake. Our invitations were engraved, so it would have been extremely expensive to have ordered more AFTER we had the first batch delivered, so we wanted to err on the side of caution.

Also, about five invitations never made it to their destination. Two were returned to us via USPS (one came back TWO MONTHS after we sent it, I have no idea what happened there), and three just . . . disappeared. SO, we had to send out those five invitations all over again.
