How long do you wait to go into the doctor?

RT: Hope you are on the mend now.

I try to wait to go until I am better; then I feel validated for not going. And I'm really not joking - I spend and extra €300 per year to get half back on medical bills etc then refuse to go because I don't feel sick enough and don't want to waste the money. So I spend €300 to save 50% on what I refuse to spend. Great saving huh? How is that for the theory of loss in motion? Well at least I know there is a monkey at the helm. :twirl:

I'm glad you went and got some medicine. Better?

My feeling on this is that if you are even mildly in tune with your own body, you will know when something really isn't right (not any sort of 'ESP' or anything like that - just a difference in how you feel), and when you should see a doctor is when things aren't right with you.

My main purpose for posting in this thread is to say never ignore the unusual. A couple of months ago I woke up and my face was very oily, which is highly unusual for me - normally the first thing I do upon getting out of the shower is lotion on my hands and then on my face. I had my yearly visit for a PAP smear scheduled, and after that was done my doctor asked if there had been any changes in the last year. I told him about the oily (really oily) skin being the only change. He referred me to a dermatologist. They, in turn weren't really sure what was causing it and ordered a blood test to check my thyroid, DHEA and testosterone levels. Next thing you know, I'm going in for a CT scan on my ovaries and adrenal glands. Turns out it's a benign (WHEW) terranoma (teratoma? I was just listening for benign, lol) on my adrenaline gland.

So please, NEVER ignore what is odd for your body!
