How do you scent your home?

Most of the time I use Nag Champa incense, especially if it isn''t too cold I''ll crack open the patio door a bit. Other times I use my gardenia or rose scented jar candles from Illuminations. DH doesn''t really like them, but have to combat the catboxes some kind of way.

I love Yankee candles too....I burn different scents for every season....Right now, I am loving Creme Brulee, Vanilla Cupcake, and Vanilla Lime (all smell so yummy!)....I also love Clean Cotton, especially for spring and summer. For winter, I love Jack Frost, and for fall, I adore Pumpkin Spice!!!

Right now we are using a giant Yankee Candle in pomegranete and it is heavenly! Sometimes we buy Plug-ins but the kitties like to knock them out of the outlets. I like the ''clean linen'' fragrance for Plug-ins since it is nice and fresh.
Ooohhhh....this is so-o-o-o-o-o me! I love anything that smells like clean laundry. I have the Glad Plug-Ins, Febreeze, Air Effects spray, candles and reed diffusers---all of them have the clean laundry scent but they are called a multitude of names. Also, I think it appeals to everyone because some folks don''t like certain scents....but who doesn''t like clean laundry, right?

Votivo Candles - love the intensity these candles have.

Before they were available in the US, I once walked miles in Paris just to find the store.

Speaking of candles, I have read (several different places) that the smoot (?) from a candle
is often responsible for the black deposits left on carpet around baseboards and under doors.
I thought it was all BS, until my allergist told me the same thing. It seems when you burn a candle,
and you have AC on, the smoot gets pulled into the system and then redeposited around the house. UCK!
And we are breathing that!

So, the question then is, are the soy candles any better for us?
And how am I going to get that scent I just love!!
Not sure I buy into this theory, I''ll still buy my Votivo''s!

Soy candles are better. The pariffin wax used in Yankee candles is is made from petroleum and produces carcinogens and soot when burned. Basically many candles are toxic.

I''ve been using soy candles for a few months and have found them to be nicely scented. Before I used Yankee, but didn''t burn them very often so there wasn''t an issue with toxins. Now I burn the soy ones nightly!

I like the Airwick ones with the oil. My favorite scent is lavendar which is getting harder and harder to find. I know mostly find the lavender & chamomille one which I don''t like nearly as much. It leaves a nice "fresh" scent in my house. I even use it in my office and people comment on it all the time.

Dianne-

If you love the smell of clean, then you would love "Clean Cotton" by Yankee Candle....Have you ever smelt it? Its perfect....smells so clean and fresh....Definitely one of my faves!!!!

Where was my head - it''s "soot" not "sMoot" !!! geez!
But thanks MC for confirming what I thought I knew!

I like candles from Henri Bendel, and I like the wallflowers and scent ports from the White Barn Candle Company.

I love the scented oil that you plug in for linen. Hmm... I need to get a refill up in here!

Nothing like the smell of CLEAN!

I also like the smell of PineSol right after we mop. That''s great! I''d not want to smell it every day all day, but it''s a good smell, like everything is fresh and free of germs (if only for a moment).

I am a fanatic for gold canyon candles. My fave at the moment is the Autumn Walk. I like spicy smells. The mulled cider is great too. I also like the foaming carpet spray (I can''t remember the brand) but it smells like apple cinnamon. Complements the candle really well. I spray it on my furniture in my living room. Creates a gentle smell when the sun warms the room. Bed Bath and Beyond makes an Egyptian Cotton linen spray that is to DIE FOR.
