How do you feel about parties on a Sunday?

Trying to decide between a Saturday and a Sunday for DD''s b-day party. Her b-day is July 1 and will be a bbq at the park. We won''t be doing the party on 4th of July weekend (too crazy). We will have 15 kids ranging from 3mo to 10yo and approx 33 adults.

One park is offering medium pavillions that hold up to 50ppl for $110. They do not have any large pavillions left for the month of July and they only have Sundays available.

Another park is offering only one large pavillion on July 31 which is a Saturday. It holds 80ppl and is $175.

Both parks are equal in quality/activities.

I wouldn''t mind the Sunday BUT all of our invitees work the next day. Do you think people would be bothered by a Sunday birthday party? The kids will be out of school by then.

I''m fine with early parties on Sundays. We don''t go to church or do family things on Sunday, so it doesn''t matter to us as long as we can get home and go to bed at a decent time.

I personally hate having to leave the house on Sundays.

Sunday in the park sounds lovely to me! I''d prefer early afternoon to evening, but wouldn''t think twice about the day.

I work and I don''t mind Sunday parties as long as they are earlier in the day. We like to spend Sunday evening relaxing and getting things ready for the week ahead. We were invited to a graduation party on a Sunday that started at 6 and I thought that was inconvenient. If it had been at 1 or 3 I would have had no problem with it.

An afternoon party on a Sunday would be no problem for us! Evening would be a bit of a pain but I would imagine that''s not your plan for a first birthday party.

I much prefer a Sunday afternoon party. Saturday afternoons get busy with errands and chores.

I think Sunday afternoon would be good, especially a bbq in the park.

I don''t mind Sunday parties at all.

Thanks everyone for your input!

We don''t mind Sunday birthdays either as long as it''s in the afternoon.

The only other thing I''m worried about is the heat. If we did Saturday, we could do a little later in the afternoon when the sun has settled a bit. If we have the party around noon, it''ll be extremely hot and I''m so worried about the kids! (the adults can deal

I actually think that Sunday would be better. Saturdays some people may have to work and the people that are off might appreciate a day to stay at home before they have to go do something. Plus for a childrens party it isnt like it will be going to all hours of the night to cause problems going to work the next day. I vote for Sunday.

I much prefer Sunday. Its the easiest day for me. Saturday my kids seem to have all their activites.

for a kids birthday i think sunday is great..! i love sunday afternoon BBQ''s or whatever because there is always too much stuff to do in summers on saturdays it seems. and everyone''s showers and things like that seem to be on saturdays. if you do sunday, just do it early enough to where people can still have a good time but still get home at a good hour to get ready for work next day.

Anytime someone is going to offer a diversion for me and my kid (barring naptime/bedtime), I''m there, and very appreciative.

So yeah, Sundays would be fine by me.

I totally hate them. I will go to them, but I won''t throw them.

Saturday is my fun day. Sunday is my relax day.

I generally prefer to plan activities & outings for Saturdays and I use Sundays to catch up on things at home. Sundays are my days to get prepared for the upcoming week as well. I suppose if I knew in advance that I had something planned though, like a party, as you mentioned, I could switch things around for that weekend. I''m assuming you''d have the party earlier rather than later on Sunday, right?

I can''t believe Sophia''s gong to be one already!

Love them!! Nothing better than a fun party on a Sunday afternoon. Saturdays we are sooo busy.

Sundays wouldn''t bother me a bit. Sounds fun!

As for the heat, it depends. It''s so hot and humid here already it''s hard to take O out for long stretches. But if there is shade then not a problem. And for us at least, it''s not much cooler later in the day than it is at noon.

Unless you wait till 6 or 7.

I actually enjoy having something fun scheduled on Sundays, unless it is during football season (sad, but true, and not an issue in July). Otherwise, I usually end up working because I am a complete lame-o. I think it would be especially good for a party with a children because it give them an opportunity for something fun with their and other families on a day they might not otherwise get that.

Another July 1 birthday here! Your daughter picked a great day to come into the world

This question was strange to me at first, because as an Orthodox Jew who observes the Sabbath every Saturday, *everything* is on Sundays for me! Any weekend wedding is on a Sunday, parties, events - ALL on Sundays. I never thought twice about it! However, I do always prefer when things are late morning on Sundays, that way I don''t have to be out of bed *too* early and I also have a chance to do something in the afternoon after the party is over. I''m sure a Sunday party for your daughter would be fine.

You really scared me for a moment lol. I have no idea when football season starts/ends. If it were football season, I could have the party in my tiny condo since 75% of the guests wouldn''t show up
