I''ve been looking at the gorgeous pictures of lace gowns and veils and so on that people are posting and getting jealous. I love lace, and if I were getting a formal wedding dress, I would definitely be looking for lace.

The problem: I''m wearing a knee length dress, and we''re having an informal ceremony mid-reception. So (a) no lace, and (b) I think I''d look a bit of an idiot in a veil.

Does anyone have any creative ideas for how I can justify some lace?

Shoes? Purse? Hold on...

Here are some Stuart Weitzman''s:

wow I love those shoes.

I''m sure you could find a shorter dress with a lace overlay? I don''t think it''d look too much - you''re the bride!! It''s your day to be decked out in beauty and outshine everyone else. =)

Lace undies always works too. hehe

These are definitely less harsh on the wallet:

pjean, have you picked your dress yet? If not, you can still choose a tea length one with lace.

You can also consider wearing short lace gloves, which would be appropriate for an informal or semi-formal wedding. I think this would look particulary good if your dress was vintagey-looking.

Another option might be to wrap lace around your bouquet.

I also think a small birdcage veil would look great with a tea length gown.

I do have my dress. It''s not lace, but I love it. I had thought I might get pink or red shoes, but if that''s my only chance at lace, I might sacrifice.

Maybe I can knit a lace shawl? (Of course, that suggests that I knit well, which isn''t really true. But I''ve got a year to learn...) I''m getting married in Las Vegas in October ''09. I can probably justify a shawl.

Would it look weird to get something like a mantilla veil, only rectangular, and wear it as a stole in the evening?

how about a lace bolero??

Pjean, as the owner of the very same absolutely gorgeous and stunning dress thanks to you (until I decided to return it because it just didn't fit exactly right,

) I can say that I think a lace veil is too much. I love the lace shoes or lace bolero idea, though. Perhaps with a lace purse also, as somebody else suggested. Just be sure to match the color of the dress. It's kind of an unusual color, not really a true champagne, and it might be hard to match.
