How BIG Does This Look to You?

I ordered this tea set from Devine Corporation, from their specials section.

There were no measurements on the listing, it said tea set and nothing more.

Looking at this picture, how big do you think it is? Approximately?

Also consider that I have another creamer from the same manufacturer, it's about 4 1/2 inches tall.

50 oz 8 inches tall

what size ring do you wear?

It looks like a normal size, right VL? Or did you find measurements somewhere?

It's actually TINY. Like a slightly oversized doll set. Sigh . . .

They won't take the return, so I'm stuck with it . . .

Beautifully handpainted stuff, but not practical at all.

I've GOT to stop buying on the internet . . .

(VL-I'm not telling you my ring size. I have a half a cigarette on some mornings and occasional evenings, so I haven't lived up to my end of the deal. It's a lot better than my former 2 1/2 packs a day -yup, you heard right- but certainly not smoke free :nono: Thank you very much though. You're very nice. )

Haha, I so knew it was going to turn out to be ridiculously small. Maybe you can get some good pictures of one of your pets having tea??? (Or maybe you have a child relative who likes dolls a lot and who has a birthday coming up?)

They are gorgeous but small. I returned mine.... Manor house had the teapot listed as 50oz when in fact is only 32oz/8"tall.
If I remember correctly, creamer is 6" and sugar 4" :saint:

The original price of the set is over $500*, and I paid over $250. I don't think I'll be spoiling anybody THAT much. :)

Devine didn't list any sizes at all, and it was in their "no returns" clearance section. What do you think the idea is in making something this small?

*Anna Weatherly stuff is very expensive, it's sold at Bergdorf and stores like that. It's all hand painted, and it is very exquisite. But this is just toooooo tiny. ::)

Hah, wow, obviously I had no idea on the price. I was thinking like $50. Obviously not something I know anything about!

I think it's rotten  not to put the measurements in. I'd be steamed, or is there humor I'm missing? It is beautiful, marvelously done, but obviously the intent was to mislead. I'd sure never buy anything from them again & would give them, at best, neutral feedback. Maybe negative. What are you gonna do, iLander, except invite tiny little people to tea?!

That's okay, it's pretty obscure stuff. But that's what threw me off, see the pic with the butterfly creamer? I have that creamer and I thought it would be proportional.

Thanks, Laurie. It's my own fault, I can't complain too much (but apparently I am anyway :) ). It's not ebay, it's a big distributor (http://www.devinecorp.net/index.cfm), and their specials policy is plain as day; no returns.

I just thought it would be around the same size/proportion as my other creamer from the same company. It's the pic with the butterfly creamer. I never would have come up with it being half the size.

Live and learn. Again.

I sure am getting smart! :knockout:

I'll sell it on ebay, but I will post the picture with the dollar so people will know what they're getting!

If it makes you feel any better, I recently discovered that they make a miniature version of my mother's china too. I was trying to track down a replacement for her broken sugar bowl and cream jug, bid on ebay, won, and then got a teeny tiny little box through the mail...

Oh please don't sell it on Ebay, not many people are familiar with this artist and may not sell well :((
You and I were mislead. I purchased mine on sale from Manor House, did get my money back through my CC company.
Just checked Devine’s:
http://www.devinecorp.net/Details.cfm?ProdID=50&category=23.
Apparently you have 21 days to return items but in this case their listing is misleading...call them now, even if the item has been shipped, they need to know that you will call your CC company.
Re size: Weatherly is Hungarian; tea is served in smallish cups/coffee in even smaller cups just like Turkish coffee. I really enjoy her hand-painted porcelain but this particular item was a total surprise [18 oz. difference].

Why?!! Why would anyone do this? It makes no sense . . .

I do feel a little better, I'm not alone. . .

I don't know . . .

I usually save the cc company for important, possible fraud-type things.

I think it was pretty much my own fault. I don't think I'll get anywhere with it. :blackeye:

Thank you for caring, though.

I'd guess creamer at 2 1/2 inches, sugar a bit taller, which would make the teapot about 6 inches tall. I guessed before reading any answers.

I would seriously call them and complain, and try to get them to take it back. If it's a miniature tea set, when a buyer is lead to believe it's an "adult size" one, that seems like it's awfully close to a misrepresentation.

I hope that didn't sound flippant, earlier. I would love one of your creations, but I just plain haven't earned it. :nono:

I agree, it's pretty awful of them. I noticed they have quite a bit of stuff without measurements on their site.

Well Im certainly sorry to hear that you've been slipping backward. I thought you had done so well getting past the 6 month marker with no problem, so I was sure you would make it. I've been designing this thing for many months now and so I have to make it anyway. I suppose I dont have to rush the other things Im working on to be able to get to it, but then it wouldn't be so bad if I pushed myself to work a little faster.
Meanwhile, and more importantly, I hope you do finally get past the whole tobacco thing

I don't know . . . I'll keep trying . . . sometimes I don't want to let go of it completely. It's a smidge of rebellion. :Up_to_something:

You should go ahead and make it that most popular of sizes; 7. Or your SO's ring size. Then we can at least all see it posted. :appl:

I don't know! It only cost a few pounds so I just laughed it off - if I had spend a lot of money, I'd have been very annoyed indeed. My mother loved it, made her laugh too, so not the end of the world, but really, WHY?? I mean, if they are a curio item, fair enough. People collect all sorts of stuff, but put the dimensions on the listing, no?

Also, if it makes you feel any better (there's a theme here...) it took me around years to finally quit smoking. It was quite the process, but I got there in the end. I've fallen off the wagon twice since then, once when I was out with my 2 packs a day cousin in NYC and once at a tapas and wine tasting evening. If I'd had more tapas, and tasted less wine, I'd probably have resisted...

iLander, I hope you let them know this is unacceptable. It isn't "close to" misrepresentation imo, it is misleading & can only be done on purpose -- photos without reference to dimensions: how is that accidental when the stuff is doll size? Beautiful, yes, but I get the strong feeling they expect people will be disappointed but keep it anyway because of its beauty. That's not fair! The more their customers object, maybe they'll change the listings. (Sorry, I didn't read carefully, thought you'd gotten them on eBay. Same difference anyhow.) $250 isn't peanuts.

You're right JF. :((

I will contact Devine Corporation again, and see if they will at least give me some sort of store credit.

I get the impression they sell to bridal retailers and upscale boutiques all over the US. Not what I would call "customer service".

Here's my google catching phrase; Devine Corporation review

Google is the karma of the modern age. ;)

THANK YOU LAURIE! :wavey: You pushed me twice, so I tried again with Devine Corp.

I emailed them the photo with the dollar bill and said "I posted this picture on an engagement forum, and of the 400+ ladies that looked at my thread, many thought your photo was deceptive. They said that I should ask you to consider giving me a store credit."

They responded and said they'd give me a credit! :appl:

Yeah!

Thank you to everyone who pushed me to try a little harder!
:wavey: :wavey:

Good work! I am glad you decided to push it. Seriously lame on their part.
