Hello fashion/bridesmaid dress savvy PSers!

I am on the hunt for chocolate brown dresses that are "sashable" for a wedding for next fall. We are going on a big shopping mission in a week and a few days but I was just browsing around on the Nordstrom website for some additional options.

I really like these silk dresses and they come in two necklines which is a bonus because the bride doesn''t require that are all have the same exact dress.

My question: Do you think that either of these are "sashable" even with the ruched waistline? If so, do you think the sash would have to be as wide as the ruching to work?

The sash will be a shade of light green.

Strapless Silk Dress

Halter Silk Dress

I also quite like this tiered dress. Again- sashable?

Satin Tiered Dress

Another affordable option with some ruching:
Strapless Tea Length

Thanks for your honest opinion. Nothing has been purchased yet to there won''t be any hurt feelings if you feel like something I presented just won''t work.

IMO, the only dress that would do well with a sash is the last one you posted. The others would look off with a sash. What is the budget for this?

I like dress 2 but.. please dont be mad I dont really like ruching WITH a sash, but it is very pretty.

oops 2nd heehee

I don''t think these dresses are sashable. The ruched ones would just add bulk or have a sash that doesn''t lay flat. I think a sash would detract from the visual of the tiers.

They are all very pretty though... are you sure the bride has to have a green sash around your waist?

Thanks for your opinion. The budget is $200 but I have a feeling that we''de all like to spend less if possible. Our current favorite is a Jim Hjelm dress that is unfortunately about 25% over budget.

I''m not mad, don''t worry. I agree with you but I thought that maybe I was being crazy. I am not very fashion savvy so I thought that maybe I was missing something. You just confirmed what I was thinking.

Yup. Her list of requirements included chocolate brown, sashable, and tea length (though I''m not positive that she realizes that tea length and knee length are two different things... I prefer knee length personally).

Mine is a ''bridesmaid dress'' but I am PRETTY POSITIVE that you can get any floor-length dress cut to be tea-length. Here are mine, the sash is attached, made by Impression, $145

I also don't think a sash would look good with any of those because of the ruching/tiering.

What about this dress from Alfred Angelo? AA has very well-made and affordable bridesmaid dresses (my girls are getting them). It could be cut to tea length, and it could come in the colors you're looking for. Or if the bride is open to something like a ribbon tie rather than a sash, there are a few more options here and here.

That dress with ruching and a sash doesn''t seem too strange. I think the key is that the sash is loosely tied. Hmmm... something to consider.

I wonder if Alfred Angelo is sold at any of the bridal salons were going to in a week or so.

:::runs off to check:::

Nope. Oh well. We can always check them out if we don''t find anything on the 18th.

Yeah, I think if the sash is thick (like four inches when laid flat without folds) and has some folding that matches the look of the ruching, it can work. But if you''re talking about a two inch sash just tied around your waist with a bow on the side, then it will look funny against the ruching.

I agree. For it to work it would definitely have to be a wider sash. I just found another store that has really great prices on raw silk dresses. Raw silk (or any silk really) is our goal here because neither the bride nor I really enjoy taffeta or satin that much. I know I included some satin dresses in my OP but it wouldn''t be my first choice in a dress.

what store? I love raw silk.
