I have a few months before my dress arrives but I am getting a bit nervous about the length as it has a lot of detail on the bottom and it won''t be able to be altered.

When I was measured I was between a 54 and 55 and at the time I opted for the 54 but now I am wishing I had gone with the longer measurement just to be on the safe side. I am 5''1" and I want to wear about 3" heels.

Feel free to post your hollow to hem measurements for comparison.

Hi modern,

I don''t know if this will help you at all, but I am appx. 5''2 1/2" or so tall and measured with about 2 1/2-3" heels on I chose a 56" hollow-to-hem. I think you''ll be okay, but as you''ll see, what do I really know??? Did they measure you with heels on at all? I was measured with shoes on...

The gal I ordered from at Pearl''s Place argued with me about it, so I again measured myself flat-footed and gave them that measurement while the lady (who insisted she was the same height and that her hollow-to-hem was much longer, so she proceeded to have another gal there measure her, but it was actually only one inch off from mine and she surprised herself!

) Flat-footed I appear to have a h-t-h of about 54". I have several pair of shoes, so I''m not too concerned about that part, but...

They said my dress won''t be in until about 3 weeks before the wedding, and this is one of my biggest fears...that my dress will be too long, too short, too hard to alter quickly, etc...

I hope that helps you out a little bit!

hmm.. you are about 1 1/2 inches taller than I am and I am hoping to wear 3 inch heels so I think that will be ok. I want wear heals but I don''t want to be too uncomfortable. I guess I could also error on higher shoes since my dress has a lot of beads at the bottom that I would rather avoid crushing (see pic), I should hopefully be ok. Unfortunatly I have to wait months to find out!

Thanks for your help Harleigh

Done now! Nothing to do but wait for it to come in and buy shoes accordingly.

I''ve heard some, uh, unfortunate stories with hollow-to-hem, so I personally think you are really at a safe length with a bit of wiggle room in either direction. At least, as someone who personally couldn''t walk in 4-5" heels.

Hopefully it will be perfect but you''ll still be beautiful in 2-2.5" heels if it comes to that.

I''m 5''4" and was measured as 54.5" for my flat-footed hollow-to-hem. My dress came out a little shorter than I''d have liked, but oh well

If you''re nervous about it, I''d call the shop and asked to be measured again. I did that and I was assured "oh, it''ll be fine, I''m sure you were measured correctly!" I wish I''d insisted, because now I have a dress that HAS to be worn with very flat flats (I''d intended to give myself a little wiggle room with sole thickness/wedge or something).

Wow, I must have a really big head or long neck...haha. I am 5''0" and wore 4" heels. My dress is being ordered at 52" hollow to hem. I double and triple checked it myself at home and came out with 52" again and again. And then I went back to the store and asked her to explain hollow to waist and waist to hem. So the consultant checked again and my hollow to hem was indeed 52"!!

Weird.

modernsparkler, I know how you feel. You should try calling the store and ask them to check it again if you''re worried.

Wowzers...it looks like we all may be nuts! I guess I must have a big head, too!

Now I''m totally paranoid about what length this dang thing is going to be! I was seriously looking fuchsia flip flop sandals today as a "just in case" plan!

I have really short shoulders, so I was already planning to take the straps up, but now I''m worried the girls will be hanging out because I''ll need the extra strap length to make the dress long enough! Aahhhhh! The agony!

I have what? About another month and a half to go...I will quite possibly need to be institutionalized by then!

Thanks for the thread ladies...This is how I''m planning to order my dress and the numbers help tremendously. Harleigh, deep breath; I''m sure it will be fine! Although I''ll be in a worse state when my time comes.
