I love "high tea," and haven't done it in years... but I thought this would be the perfect treat to indulge in with the right group of people. And our PSers are defintely that group! So how about a holiday GTG (without bling shopping, unless break out groups want to arrange something) that is relaxing, luxurious and fun to boot!

http://www.sfstation.com/afternoon-tea-a1618 Is a review of high tea in the city. I haven't been to the Ritz in SF but have been in Virgina and it was wonderful. It is pricier than our usual GTG's (around 60 a person including tip and tax for 'Royal' or "Premire' Tea) but it has champagne cocktails, yummy food, and (of course) amazing tea.

I have no real preference as to a date in November and December, I can't do the weekend after Thanksgiving though. And afternoon tea is served from 1:00 to 4:30 at the Ritz. I have no preference as to times.

Reservations do go quicker for this (especially around the holidays) and for groups so I am asking for a 'firmish' commitment earlier than we would for a 'usual' GTG.

Oh, and I think we can leave the white gloves and the hats at home, unless someone really has a preference (it is CA afterall).

Here's the menu (and it has a lovely vegetarian option): http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/SanFrancisco/Dining/TheLobbyLounge/Menu.htm (it is served in the Lobby Lounge at the Ritz).

To start things off here are my thoughts:

1. I'm in
2. I'm proposing November 21st at 2:00pm.

They do offere tea on the weekdays, and I am off Thanksgiving week, but our plans for Thanksgiving are up in the air still, so I am reluctant to agree to anything during that week. I am also off for the last two weeks of December.

Your Significant Others are WELCOME and so are friends, as always.

Alternate ideas are tea in Halfmoon Bay or Palo Alto.

Hooray a date I'm finally around for!! Count me in!

That date being the 21st. :)

Great news Violet, we've MISSED YOU at the GTG's.

Can't wait to see everyone.

Sounds great! I''m in.

Sounds very interesting. I missed the last GTG. Count me in!

that is SUCH a great idea - I wish I was in your ladies'' area! yum...scones!

I wish I was going to be here, I''d love to meet some of the local ladies on PS

Have a wonderful time of it, and post lots of pictures afterward so we can celebrate belatedly

what a cute idea!

and i think you ladies should wear gloves and hats, that would make a great picture.

That sounds fun! I might be able to go.

YAY: We've got Violet, Neatfreak, Swingirl, and a tentative IK! It's always so much fun to do something out of the common run.

BEG: It's lovely-- especially since you can get dressed up and it's during the day-- not too many things you can say that about anymore. Why wait for a bridal or baby shower to indulge in premium girl time? I've decided to take the Vegas commercials to heart and create my own "holiday" (no yaks though).

Yssie, you definitely have to come to one of the GTG, when you are available? We usually manage one every three months or so! We'd love to meet you.

Mara, you should come to another GTG one of these days. Especially with the pending baby... maybe a mommies GTG soon-ish (which I guess would have to be planned by a mommy, since all I have are the meows!)? You guys can stick the gloves and the hats on the toddlers. Talk about a cute picture!

As an FYI here''s an article on Afternoon Tea ( called ''High Tea'' in the states ):

http://www.beverlycollins.com/high%20tea/High%20Tea.htm

It''s a fun excuse to dress up in fun, colorful dresses, and take a nice leasurely snack time with the ladies to catch up. Which it is why it is a favorite for showers. I''ve been wanting to host one at my house, but all that baking and cutting of crusts makes it easier to go out and enjoy (not to mention all the cleaning of the china before and afterwards).

can i wear my tuxedo??

Nope.

That sounds like so much fun Gypsy! I wish I could go but we''re moving that weekend. Have a great time and hopefully I''ll get to see you lovely ladies at another GTG during the holidays.

This is such a cute GTG idea. And Mmmm, the menu looks yummy. I''ll have to keep this in mind next time I visit the Bay Area and take my mom.

a future mommy GTG could be fun! nov 21 is my family baby shower, but pls post pics ladies.

Everyone still on board for Tea? A question from a gal who doesn''t dress up very often, what do I wear to a high tea? Are slacks acceptable? Of course no jeans. I don''t like dresses. Help!

I''m on if everyone else is. It''s been a rough couple of weeks and I could use something like this to relax.

Slacks and a nice top should be fine. I have no idea what I''m wearing. :-)

Can I just cry for having to miss this??

I''m still in.

Gypsy: You can still go this Saturday? Thought you had that family thing? If you can go I will meet you at BART and we can go together.

Thing was moved to Sunday apparently (just found out this morning). But regardless... it was moved so Saturday is free and I'm in. Bart is a great call. I'm in.

I'm sorry RZ.

We'll miss you.

Sounds good! We''ll talk later this week and make plans.

Yup. I just made reservations (which I can expand or contract as needed) for 2:00pm under my name. It's in the Lobby Lounge at the Ritz in SF!

NF: That's a deal!

Oh darnit!
I SO wish I could go - - I would love to meet you all. Ah, next time...
