Hey DF, et al., what's my Rolex worth?

I found out an acquaintance collects Swiss watches.
He is not in the business, just a hobby.
I have a Rolex I haven't worn in a zillion years that I may as well sell to him.
I'm getting old and starting to unload stuff I never use.

Midsize steel and gold, Oyster Perpetual Datejust.
Original boxes, manual, and whatever else it came with, including extra bracelet links.
SN dates to 1988.

I have receipt showing it was bought new at an authorized dealer.
It has never been serviced or tampered with, or even opened.
Everything is original and it works fine today.
A few scratches and one bad one.

Before anyone posts a price range, I'll take macro pics of a couple issues.
So, please sit tight. ;))

Mid size, 31MM? plastic crystal? .My best guess is $1700 - $1800

I'm guessing closer to $3K considering you have the original box.

The super high magnification and resolution of my fancy schmancy Nikon gear, (D810 body, Nikon ED AF Micro Nikkor 200mm F4 D macro lens, and PB-4 bellows extension) made my tiny FCDs look bigger than they really are.
It also makes damage look worse than it is ... but ... FWIW ...

The crystal is sapphire (lab-grown of course), and has an ugly booboo scrape at the edge.
But it's not fractured so the case is still sealed from moisture and dust.

Then the steel case also has an ugly booboo:

I don't know Kenny, the colours on that gear are pretty off - and what's that big yellow halo at the bottom of the second pic?

Sorry. Couldn't resist.
Of course you, of all the people on this forum, have kept the original box and paperwork and everything else ::) Beautiful piece.

Labor for a complete overhaul is about $950 + parts. If you need a new crystal is about $250 and hopefully they can re-polish the bezel, if not then maybe another $400?...I'm just guessing on these prices.

@kenny, here is the RSC near you.

I have the exact same watch, women's version - and the box and paper, from the early 90s.
