Hey Delster

How are things?

Hi bee! I miss PS
7.gif
But otherwise life is good! How are you getting on? Been thinking of D lately, did he get fixed up with another job? How''s the study going? And how are the fur-babies?
9.gif

Glad to hear that things are good! You still living in the big smoke? Things are going well this end too. Unfortunately D hasn''t found anything yet-he''s doing some nixers for clients that used to deal with the company he was in so he''s happy that he has some work but still, it would be a lot nicer if he had something full time. Studies are going well-there''s a lot of it but this semester is a lot better than the last. Any other news? How are the wedding plans going along?

Hello all! For the first time in literally months I have some PS time. I am in a place with internet and my computer isn''t overlook. What a luxury! I''ve missed you all!

Bee, yup I am still in the big smoke. All going well so far. I''m sorry to hear D hasn''t found anything, but maybe that''ll have changed since you wrote last time. It must be very stressful. I think of ye a lot and wonder how the planning is going - I''m off over to BWW after this to check in on ye!

Planning is going good here, a lot of the big things are booked and I don''t have to think about them

The only worry I have is getting himself to choose his best man...!

Haha, no, ya big goober--I just read through your last posts here and saw that you were having trouble with your hip and that''s why (so you SAY) you stayed away from PS for so long. Was it all just a cover story?! That why you''re surprised to see me mentioning it?!

WOOHOO so glad that you checked in! Missed you too! D still hasn''t found anything so just doing freelance stuff at the moment which is keeping him busy so at least that''s something. Glad to hear about the planning! It was easy for D to choose his best man as he''s best friends with this guy for years and luckily he''s the most trustworthy out of all his friends. His stag weekend is next week-can''t believe it''s so soon! Glad to hear that you''re still having fun in Dublin. Any other news?

Did I say I stayed away from PS cos of my dodgy hip?!? Gosh I don''t remember that. Me is definitely a goober if I said that. That don''t even make sense!
9.gif
I don''t type with my hip!!!
3.gif

bee I''m so glad to hear D has enough freelance work to keep him occupied. We''ve all just got to hunker down and this too shall pass. He''s well qualified and has valuable skills, he will find work. I have no time for the grá mo chroí people. Moaning and whinging and negative energy are not going to help the situation! What is it about Irish people that they just refuse to be positive???
20.gif

I can''t think of any other news really. I went to hear the Dublin Gospel Choir recently and I was thinking of you, didn''t you say you booked gospel music for your wedding? Gosh they were amazing. They sang a beautiful Kirk Franklin song called ''My all'' that was just so perfect for a wedding.

Genuine honest reason I haven''t been on PS that much is because we don''t have internet at home, and in the place where I can get internet I have zero privacy and forum surfing would be very much frowned upon. But in good news, we might have broadband in two weeks and then the PS assisted wedding planning can begin in earnest...
31.gif

Yep I''m sick of all the whinging too-if I hear another person moaning when I turn on the radio I think I''ll scream! We''ll all get through this, it''s tough at the moment but it had to happen eventually with the way things were going. We do have the dublin gospel choir booked-I love them. D''s cousin had them at her wedding a few years ago and she walked up the aisle to "My all"-it is amazing. I''m going to definitely have them sing it somewhere through the ceremony. Dying to hear about all your wedding plans when you get broadband-did you decide about the Benjamin Roberts dress?

Delster did you end up going with Dunboyne Castle after all? I''ve a friend living near there, it''s gorgeous.
I was thinking of a gospel choir too! I''ll have to look into that. Are they expensive?

I went with the Dublin Gospel Choir and for five members plus travel is was €1200. They charge per person so you can have as few or as many as you like. They''re amazing to listen to.

Thanks Bee*! I might look into Ennis gospel choir, they''re supposed to be good and they''re a lot closer.

Hi Porridge!
35.gif
I''ve lots of connections in your neck of the woods, love that part of the world
9.gif
Dunboyne is up in the air with us for one reason and another but I''m not stressing about it. No firm decisions made as yet. I don''t know anything about the Ennis gospel group you mentioned. There''s supposed to be a good gospel choir in Tullamore that might be worth checking out? I saw a useful post on weddingsonline one time with a list of groups that sing gospel, you might do a search over there and see what you can find!

bee hon you''re getting so close now!

I''m going to pop over to your Who''s Who now and to BWW and check in on how you''re doing

Amber here''s the dish on the PhD and thank you so much for thinking of me and inquiring, you were totally my cheerleader through the miserable time I was having last Spring/Summer and I very very much appreciate it!

thankyou.gif

So towards the end of last Summer I made peace with the fact that my stupidviser difficulties are intractable and then I went ahead and made some super big life changes that I''d been putting off in order to ''finish the PhD''. I can''t say too much about those changes as it would give away too much, but I basically overhauled everything. Changed where I work, where I live, how I spend my days, who I spend time with, what I spend my days doing etc etc etc. I embarked on something that has always been a long term goal but that I''d been putting off because I felt like I wasn''t allowed have it until the *&%! PhD was done. I just decided enough was enough and I was going to go ahead and live my life notwithstanding the PhD.

Now, if I''m honest, finishing is no closer - but that''s fine because I honestly believe that even if I''d spent the past nine months doing nothing else but the PhD, as I''d been doing before, I wouldn''t be any further along than I am now. But I''d have lost the plot by now if I hadn''t made the changes I did. It''s still a huge stress hanging over me, but it''s not destroying every last drop of happiness any more. And it had gotten to that stage. I was absolutely miserable and I just couldn''t carry on as I was. And now with the changes I made I''m super happy these days!

Delster I''m so glad you found a way to be happier in your life. I totally hear you on how the PhD process can suck out every last drop of happiness - I think the worst is that you''re constantly in such a powerless position. But it sounds like you''ve found a way to wrest back some control of your life, and I think that''s wonderful
