Ok, bear with me, please don''t laugh I have not gone off the deep end with wedding-itis.

I need some help if anyone can! We are getting married on the beach in the tropics and had this crazy idea that we would love to have the fullmoon shining down over the beach and the water at our reception for night photos. It would look stunning.

Anyhoo, I am having trouble finding the moon dates for Australia!!! We are totally flexible in our date, so we would love to see if we can find a date where the moon will be visible over the water, I guess full moon or pretty close to it? I have tried on some Ausralian websites, entering in the latitute and the other thingy that I can''t remember, but I can''t seem to make heads or tails of the data (so much for my science degree

Anyway, if someone has any ideas could they please chime in? I would really appreciate it.

We are getting married in Palm Cove Australia in September some time.

I feel like a dork, so go easy on me hey

The full moon occurs on the same date planet-wide.

A slightly more helpful answer: google supplied a longitude of 145.67 and latitude of -16.75 for your location. Here''s a website that will calculate the exact sunrise/sunset moonrise/moonset for your location: Moon Data ; use "Part B" for locations outside the United States like Australia. The full moon in September 2009 will take place on September 4, 2009 no matter where on Earth you are. Have fun in your planning!

Awwwwww I think that''s a wonderful and romantic idea indeed! I hope you will be able to find out!

fleur-de-lis - thanks for getting those numbers, I had them somewhere but lost them again. So, Sept 4th is doable for us easily, it''s a Friday but that''s ok. We were hoping mid-week but this might all just work out. It will be worth it if we get those magic night time shots!!!!
jcarlylew - I will check out those links anyway, I might be able to find out how many nights the moon still looks visible around the full moon.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate this!!!!

You could always check with your photographer. I know my photographer keeps up with very detailed stuff to make creative photos. So it could be a long shot, but if your photographer is good, they will find a way!

Lovely, lovely! September 4 is my birthday, what a great day.

September in North Qld is beautiful weatherwise, it''s one of the driest months so it should be mild and sunny during the day and clear skies for your full moon. Sunset should be about 6 o''clock so you won''t have to wait up until late for your photos.

Best of luck.

This is such a neat idea Honey! It just so happens that my cousin is getting married on the beach in Rarotonga on that day so I will have to share this info with her about the full moon I hope that one of us has a camera that can capture the effects!

Mini Threadjack - I''m always so interested in your threads! I guess it has to do with the fact that you were the first to announce your engagement after I first started lurking on the LIW boards. I suppose your wonderful story was the first of many that keeps me coming back here daily to see what everyone is up to in the world of diamonds, weddings, and upcoming engagements. Hopefully I will have my own story to post soon!
End Threadjack

Keep these neat little ideas coming.

BTW- I don''t consider an idea like this as "going off the deep end with wedding-itis." You''re merely making the absolute most of what you have to work with on your wedding day and I bet that this concept will make for some unique photographs!

Awww Clairitek! You are such a sweetie!!! I am not sure how long you were lurking before my engagement, but my DF was holding my ring hostage in the safe for almost 5 months, it was pure torture

BUT, every bit worth it! Your cousins wedding sounds perfect! We will confirm a date in October when we fly up to see the venues. The 4th is a bit earlier than we were thinking, but it doesn''t really matter. And I think the moon photos will be worth it!! If I pick that date, we will have to swap moon-wedding pics

I have my fingers crossed that you will be joining us over here as a bride in waiting really soon. Lots of dust to you.

It''s funny that the PSers seem to understand, I have been too shy to tell my ''real friends'' at work etc about this idea, as I can see them thinking I am an obsessive micro-controlling bridezilla

Oh well, they will understand when they see the pics hey?
