My husband and I are in the middle of a huge remodel! Its very exciting, but I feel like I have bitten off more than I can chew...so I am coming here to let you wonderful ladies help me decide!!

My home is very " beach spa" like. I have chosen a warm honey chocolate handscrapped floor, which is the entire first level, sans the powder room which is travertine. I have cream cabinetry with a white highlight glaze. Verde Butterfly granite counter tops with a full granite backsplash...which is green with large white deposits. Brown Swanstone granite composite sink. Oil rubbed bronze finishes (including faucet, knobs). I have a large oil rubbed bronze light fixture over the table with clear glass grape bunches. Next to the kitchen is a sitting room...with 3 bookcases which are espresso in color, two cream slipcovered arm chairs, a brownish/black round 3-tier end table.

My paint is moonshine (creamy white), seagrass (very soft green), and sunhat (very buttery yellow).

I am trying to pick out a kitchen table for my home.

It will be right by a set of bay windows in a smallish eat in kitchen. Originally, I wanted a hutch, unfortuantly, I don''t think I will be able to have that now due to the small space available.

So here is what I want....please weigh in...

For the table....

For the chairs...I would do the "X" back

To Fill In the "Hutch wall"... I would do one set of the wine/stem wear...and the set of 3 four foot shelves

So...What do you think? What color should I choose? I am scared to go white because it may clash with my cabinets....

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!

I will go slightly over budget for this, and I want it to make a really beautiful statement!!!!

Firstly, I don't know some of the terms you are using, such as 'handscraped /handscraped?', also 'hutch', these must be US terms. I'm guessing 'hutch' equals a small kind of dining board/cabinet...
But... for what it's worth, your decor sounds droolworthy!
Firstly, I love the little shelf in your table, it's a cute detail... if it's not going to drive any along-legged persons crazy, that is! Is it test-driveable?
The chairs - X-back! That's unusual to me! I hope it's comfy, but it has a kind of sleek appeal!
The hanging glassware slides are also fun, and add to the 'resort' feel, no?
I mean, we need photos of your own remodel! But I love it!

PS I would definitely go with the dark wood shade, rather than the white! I guess (depending on your decor IRL) I *could* consider the table and chairs in a natural beige/cream shade that marries in with your other lighter coloured items...

Lara, thank you so much for the lovely advice...

Handscraped floors mean someone took the wood flooring and ran a tool over to create a sort of weathered feel with long, lines literally scraped into the wood. IIt looks slightly wavey and textured, and under your feet you can feel the scrapping for sure. It's becoming a big trend here in the states.

A Hutch is a more casual china cabinet. I have a wall that would be totally hutch-worthy, however its very shallow...and I think the shelves add detail. I will probably use them to display our toasting flutes, fine china....kind of like a seamless, floating cabinet.

What would you think if I did the white table, white chairs...with espresso cushions on the chair seats and espresso shelves?

it's just so hard to visualize...can you take a picture of the space? i'm getting a relaxing country vibe from your description? so a pic could help!

I really really really want to see a picture of your kitchen!!!
I LOVE kitchens!
I think whatever you decide... on the TYPE... use PB as a design tool and buy somewhere else. Their quality isn''t worth what they charge you!

Lucky, I love kitchens too! We are still underconstruction...as we have been for a while, as we will be for a while...but as soon as it is done (Late September/Early October) I will load up on pics and share share share. The only thing I want, that we havent even discussed, is stainless appliances...but my remodel guy said within the next year or so, they will start having oil rubbed bronze appliances...so I think I''ll wait.

More, I agree. Pictures would help...but unless you want to see ply wood floors and tools, I have none to share

. However, think it could go either country or beachy...but its the decore that changes it...like coral instead of chickens...but, down to bare walls, it would feel cozy country.

ok, then in that case, i have some advice- and that''s to buy nothing until everything is done...I know it''s tempting to get everything now....becasue my busband made me esentially do that bc of is OCD lol....it''s so much easier to get a feel for what you want then...

I think that perhaps a little use of lighter colours might help lift what you are describing as a small area? With the dark shelves, the dark table adjacent might not be quite as light and casual? It depends a lot on what colour you are painting the walls in your eating area though.

If you are using the creamy white colour, you might opt for the expresso, but if you are using the green and/or yellow, it might be worth considering a lighter table and chair...? Geez, or even the shelves as well I guess...

Also, perhaps not stark off-the-shelf white for your table and chairs...? Just as an idea. Perhaps selecting a white that matches other elements in your room, eg the big chunks in your granite so maybe a slightly off white / cream), or maybe a darker tone of (or matching) your cream paint
