Hello PSers. I stumbled here by way of a Google search after a visit to a local jeweler triggered a lots of questions. I've spent some time poking and decided to sign up, get some help, and make some new friends (I hope).

I've been married for 9 1/2 years and trying to decide what to do for my 10th anniversary in terms of jewelry which is why I'm here. I have some time as it's next April but want to start thinking/ saving for it. Also find a way to maximize my buck to get through my jewelry wishlist.

I have two long winded posts about what I currently own and my wishlist that I will clean up and post soon but wanted to say hi and thank you all for being a great resource.

I got a 5 stone band for my 10 year anniversary...what are you thinking about???

Wow! Thanks for all the replies :). Still learning my way around this site and want to post pic but need to figure out how....

In terms of what I want for my 10 year anniversary. I'm still trying to sort that out. I'll admit I've been bitten by the diamond bug and my DH is trying to understand it but doesn't really. That been said I'll tell you my diamond collection story and maybe get some insight into guidance on a decision. I currently have a few diamond rings. My original engagement/anniversary ring is a 1/2 carat, I colored, SI1 center stone with 2 marquise, 4 baguette, and 4 round diamonds. I/we always planned on upgrading the center stone when the funds were right.

At 5 years there was a deal on CL that seemed too good to be true and we sprung on it which was my intro to big stones. Got a 1.25 RB that was F colored, I3. Now I could totally see the flaws in it but at the time just wanted to own a larger stone and for under 1K I thought it was well worth it. So we got a setting that distracted from it so I think and from super far away it isn't noticeable according to others but to me I noticed and stared to pine for something with better clarity. So like many PSer, I pined.... and saved (sorta) ....and pined.

On our seventh anniversary without much real planning while we were visiting Maine, we ended up in an jewelry shop and my DH gave me the ok to get another ring. So again without too much education went for it and got a 3/4 G SI2 as it as on "final sale". But when I got it home I noticed there was a black spot and that was similar to the larger stone I had and paid a lot less for and it bugged me. Since the shop was a chain and there was one semi local to me I gave them a call and they let me come in and exchange it as the ring I brought was final sale so couldn't get a refund . They had a better selection than the place in Maine but still not a lot but they did offer no interest financing for a year :D . So I ended up getting a larger a stone from their signature collection. A 1.22 I colored SI1 EGL cert. Was happy as it was eye clean and they have an upgrade policy. But the ring had to be inspected every 3 months by them and after a year and a half of doing it and not seeing the inventory change that much I decided when it's time to buy again I would do so elsewhere for numerous reason. One of which is being better educated about diamonds and how to shop for them than I was ;).

So at this point I have three rings. One that I wear on my right hand for special occasions ( the 1.25 F I3) and I switch between my original engagement ring and my upgrade on my left hand.

For our 10 year if we hit the lotto I'd love this stone it's a 2.61 Transitional/Early RB diamond as it's beautiful and unique and...and...you just have to see it http://jewelsbyericagrace.smugmug.c...liant/23819328_MKkDnZ#!i=1936989846&k=nKHDJ5M but after the conversation with my DH this am I really need to be realistic and save a BIG stone upgrade for our 15 year or 20 year anniversary. ;)

I think realistically I'd either like a new custom setting for the 1.22 RB that I'm currently wearing as it doesn't really match my wedding band that I love and never plan to change.

Or to upgrade the quality of my .5 in my original engagement ring and save the original stone to start saving for a 5 stone ring made of all .5.

Orrr... a diamond anniversary band. Orrr a great priced vintage ring to start that collection. I don't know....

I have no idea what I want but I have time and I love looking at diamonds and rings. Sorry for this super long post and thanks for reading.

Welcome Caza. :wavey:

Welcome Caza :wavey:

You've come to the right place to receive advice and maybe even pictures of what you're looking for. :appl:

Hi Caza. :wavey: I'm looking forward to seeing how your project progresses.

Caza
welcome to PS.. :wavey: there are a few  here!!...

Thanks! I've been dreaming/ borderline obsessed with the "Snookie" diamond for a few days now. I really want that diamond :(. Any advice on how to get over it as I'm sure when the time is right another big beautiful transitional diamond will be available. Now is not the time as I have the reception to pay for and I am sure Jewels by Erica won't do long term layaway. Sigh. End my morning vent.

Welcome, Caza. :))

Email Erica or Grace - both are lovely people and may be able to work with you on a long term layaway plan. It's not completely unheard of. ::) Don't keep settling for something you don't love - it gets expensive to accumulate unworn rings. :wink2:

Thanks Ginger. I really need to marinate in this want as it's a new, never even seen it in person and it's a HUGE jump from what I'm currently wearing. Have never brought a diamond online either :/.

I think my first step is to go into a local jeweler and try on stones around that size and color to make sure it's what I REALLY want before buying anything online. Total novice to online buying.

Hi Caza and welcome to Pricescope.

I think we need a few pictures of your current rings. Like everyone else here, I love to look at jewelry. :naughty:

I have to laugh about the unworn rings being expensive comment earlier. Worn rings can be expensive too, but such a pleasure to have.

Realizing that I took pics and none of them have been cleaned lately :/. Regardless here is the ring fam.

Here is a pic of my three diamond rings together. img_3027.jpg

Also marinated and decided to email Erica and Grace about Sookie.... Waiting for a reply while trying ( unsuccessfully) to get unattached.

Sookie is sold :( but that's ok...

Decided to start the upgrade my original e ring with an OEC stone. Waiting to hear back on the next steps on purchasing that stone. Also went to a few B & M stores in the diamond district to look at some OCEs and I'm actually starting to consider the idea of an antique cushion.

Will move conversation on stones and questions to Rocky talk but just wanted to update this thread.

Welcome Caza!
