What do you think of this? Someone posted this on FB... someone that I'm friends with and someone that knows I have A LOT of diamonds.

I find it interesting because just last week she was talking about the DIAMOND for her upcoming e-ring. I shouldn't really be offended... but.... superficial? Why can't people just LIKE what they LIKE and if you don't, move on?

I wish! I am so missing the "mind your own business" state of mind that pretty pervaded the world I grew up in.

Seriously, "MYOB", people. . .

So much judging is just small people trying to make themselves feel important.

The older that I get, the more I see that. Life isn't black and white. It's just... all over the rainbow :)
I think this is why I don't share any new things that I get with people. I LOVE DIAMONDS, but others don't see the big deal. Where as, I'm wondering why in the heck they would spend $1k on a pair of shoes.

My guess would be that she's either considering or has converted to an alternative. A lot of the time when people give up a thing, they can't just change their mind - they have to down their Pre-Revelation State of Mind. And a lot of the time, they're too self-absorbed to think about all the other people out there who've made their own choices, and how the snotty little comments might make them feel ....

And don't even get me started on the easy self-congratulations of people who've watched "Blood Diamond" and think they've, a) now got a full handle on the abuses of the mining industry, and, b) have no problems with, say, the child labor that made the machine they watched it on under sweat-shop conditions.

OMG. It's called "mining" people. Human beings have done it since a long time ago when they discovered this thing called "metal" and learned how to, you know, make useful things with it. Urg! I have very little patience with people with this particular anti-diamond mindset. Where did it even come from? It's like a cult. /rant over

It's weird, right? Yes, apparently the movie Blood Diamond has made everyone an expert. In that case, I have a PH D in B.S. from watching House and Grey's ::) Oh and if anyone yells, "Is there a Doctor in the house?!" I will exclaim yes and give the person a tracheotomy because I saw it on tv. :D

tell her she's gassing up her car with "blood oil" ...

Hi,

Since I don't use facebook, I am unclear whether this woman posted on her face book page or your facebook page. If its on hers she has a right to post whatever she pleases. I doubt she trying to upset you.( ala Circe)

If this was posted on your page, I would actually ask her why. Maybe she thinks the picture is a sort of joke. If not I really would ask her what the point was. I think everyone eperience this now and again. I just hold firm to the belief--Its my money to spend as I choose. Just keep that in mind.

Annette

Does she post a lot of pictures w/sayings? Some people just go nuts posting stuff like that left and right without thinking too much about what they're posting.

It's on hers, but it shows up on my feed. She did say that she was wondering what I would say about it once she posted it. The thing is, I'm the ONLY person in her group that loves diamonds and basically owns them. I know this was directed towards me, I'm not stupid.

But yes, she can spend her money on whatever she wants! If she thinks every diamond is a blood diamond- so be it. I just felt the "superficial" part was hurtful. Loving diamonds is more than loving this sparkly thing. I'm AMAZED and the mathematics that go into a well cut diamond. I'm amazed that a clearish stone can exhibit just gorgeous rainbows of color. I wear diamonds for me, no one else :)

I don't get rude comments about wearing blood diamonds very often, but this is THE PERFECT response. Thank you :Up_to_something:

out of sight out of mind to stuff you don't like on fb, then is when you use the hide option for anything you don't agree with etc.

I am sure he will end up buying a diamond no matter what.
