enamoured >> enamoured with in love with, taken with, charmed by, fascinated by, entranced by, fond of, enchanted by, captivated by, enthralled by, smitten with, besotted with, bewitched by, crazy about (informal) infatuated with, enraptured by, wild about (informal) swept off your feet by, nuts on or about (slang)

Just another DF type question. Have you ever met anyone that made you feel like this? Not your significant other, I mean like a total stranger, or someone at work, etc.

It''s happened to me on one or two occasions. There was this one resident at work who was so good looking, I literally could not speak. Everytime I need to ask for an order, I became a stuttering fool and would suddenly get weak knees.

Anyone else have this happen to them???

Yes! And the funny thing is I met him again at a conference about a year later and my reaction was, "what the he!! was I thinking last year?" LOL!

HI:

Yup. Fella at work. It was scary b/c I could not "understand" my feeling/reaction!

Yeah, when I studied abroad in college I met a guy who I completely lost my mind over. The first time I met him, he walked through the door and I thought it was love at first sight (was sadly mistaken about the "love" part, but of course I didn''t realize that until much later). I''ve never had that feeling before or since, which is a good thing...it was kinda freaky.

BTW, it is enamored of, not enamored with.

This was in the recent thread about common grammar booboos.

Oh yes, quite frequently, in fact! I work around many extremely attractive and charismatic people, and some of them are just captivating. Both women and men - I don''t think it''s romantic/sexual when it happens to me, just pure awe!

Aside from DH, where luckily the feeling grew into love and a deep relationship, yes, it''s happened once or twice. One was right before my 18th birthday when I saw this guy on the beach and I totally lost my mind (and heart). And after a week long whirlwind romance I was wondering whatever possessed me to think he''s so cool. What a jerk.

lol

I''d say it was like that with my first love when I was a freshman in high school. I don''t think it''s happened to me since, though!

Occasionally. Sometimes it''s explicable - I still remember Geoffrey, the grad student teaching my section of French in college. He was *unrealistically* good-looking. He seemed like a nice, smart guy aside from it, but the whole being-preternaturally-beautiful thing made it a bit hard to concentrate as a student, and I bet made his personal life, um, interesting. But sometimes, it''s bizarre: I remember meeting a dude once and feeling completely struck, and then meeting him months later, and thinking that while he was a nice guy and all ... no. Chemistry and circumstance, I guess ... interesting to know that the same thing happens to so many!

my friend who died recently. When I met him I was enamoured, and we of course were doing something he was really good at and I had never done, so I felt like a total idiot. He later became one of my closest friends.

Oh yeah... once or twice to the point where I could barely say a damn word to him! lol But then again I was like that when I met my fiance the first time too.... awww. lol

Ah, yes......we were completely enamored of or with (whatever) each other! It turned into something awesome, and the most rewarding relationship and friendship I''ve had.

I was thinking about this today and a guy in the airport came to mind. I was flying from White Plains to Orlando and saw this guy when I checked in. I immediately thought he was gorgeous and the more I looked at him the more I couldn''t stop looking! I *never* get this instant feeling about guys, especially without at least speaking to them, so it was very strange. When we were waiting for our luggage in Orlando he stood near me and I couldn''t stop trying to catch a glimse. It was very strange and I felt like I couldn''t stop staring. Weird! Usually I''ll see a good looking guy and just move on with my life.

I also recently had this with an actor in a tv show, though I''m not sure that counts because I haven''t seen or met him in real life. I just can''t get this guy out of my head lately!

all the time.
