If so, what kind of doctor did you go to to get rid of it? I thinking maybe a plastic surgeon that specializes in hands?? Its on my left hand, and its huge like 1 inch by 1 inch by 1 inch. I noticed it about a year ago maybe longer and just thought it was a bone or something, wasnt so noticebly, but then it got huge and showed it to one of my bosses who suggested it was a ganglion cyst and then I researched it and asked my BFs uncle who is a doctor and he said it was.... But I dont want any scar from it, so Im super nervous, especially since my pretty ering will be on it :-)

Any advice, stories??

I would go to a dermatologist. Don''t be scared!

I have one! Why do I feel ashamed to admit that? lol

Anyway, it's on my right wrist. I thought it was a bone too! Actually, you can't really see it unless I bend my wrist, which is why I'm not too concerned with getting it removed. So I guess I can't help you...but hey, at least I don't feel like a weirdo anymore.

P.S. DH and I named it Bob, for "bump on bone". I notice that my right hand is weaker since I've had it. I can't really put pressure on that hand. Apparently in the olden days they used to smash it with a heavy book.

Had 2 removed from 1 hand within the space of 3 years, not a problem. Problem if you don''t do anything about it. You''re way better off without it.

i have one in my left wrist that is usually not a problem but sometimes sits on a nerve and can be kind of painful.. anyway, my dad is a surgeon and he says that the usual way of treating a ganglion cyst is to inject it with steroid and pop it (as opposed to removing it surgically). my 14-year-old self thought that sounded terrifying, so i still have mine

Probably not as ashamed as I am for admitting that I totally tried the book smashing-it worked!

I had a pea sized one on my finger for a long time before I even decided to figure out what it was. I started having a little pain when I bent my finger & decided to search. I found the book smashing tip & thought hey let me try it, I didnt even do it hard & away it went. I dont know if I would try it on a large one though, best to have it evaluated by a doctor.

man u are alot braver than I... I thought about it and then said NO WAY! gahh but it said that sometimes if it isnt surgically removed it could come back by justing popping it.. I have an appt with the dermo in like 2 weeks or so...

I would try getting a cortisone shot injected in it and see if it helps. I had it injected into a cyst on my scalp and it worked.

My dad (who''s a surgeon) used the book technique on my sister''s. Bingo, no more ganglion!

Traditionally you use a bible...

I have one on my wrist and I cannot deal with the book thing!

*chuckle* I have one.
Dh named him "Little G". Well, he''s not so little now, he protrudes like an extra limb. I''ve had him for over 6 months now. He doesn''t bother me most times but I''ve had some minor twinges of pain here and there. My right hand has been weakened with carpo tunnel -had minor surgery for that, 2 broken fingers and now a cyst.
While I was at work, I actually fell on him going up some stairs and he ''popped''. He went down half the size of what''s in the picture. But within 4 hours of my shift, he grew back. My best option is getting him surgically removed. I would only be under local anaesthetic (?).

My sister had one. She had it aspirated but it came back a few times so she had the surgery. Definitely see a surgeon who specializes in this field. She went to a good guy but unfortunately she does have a scar and has issues moving her pinky up and down. Do your homework first and good luck.
