I did, and I don't recommend. I have been meaning to detail my experience but have just been super busy but this is just a quick PSA. So I was sending a package to myself essentially because my friend had it at her address, and I created a label for her to send it to me at mine. I knew that there was a possibility that I would be out of town by the time it was delivered, so I saw that thing to checkmark and thought "cool, they can hold it and it won't be sitting on my porch". I also requested to get notifications. So I got notifications that it was "at post office for pickup". I was in fact out of town, but would be home the following day. I get home and get up to go to usps, and then get a message saying "return to sender". I rushed to USPS but it was gone. I asked them why on earth did they do that. They did not seem familiar at all with the "hold for pickup" option, and said that the package just said my name, but had usps address and not my address at all. Which was super weird, because on my receipt, I see my address and then "service selected - hold for pickup". I was pretty upset. Not only did they have it for one day before processing it to be sent back, but I didn't get text notifications explaining this. When I tracked online and could see the history, then it had all this "insufficient address" and "return to sender" stuff that I didn't get texted about.
Not only that, but the package actually did get lost on the way back. It was eventually recovered but it was a fiasco. When I talked to reps on the phone (when trying to find out where the lost package was) they seemed very baffled by the hold for pickup thing.
So I have no idea why this is an option for click and ship when it appears that A. nobody knows about it and B. it's going to be return to sender. Also, I always do "hold for pickup at location" with Fedex and UPS, so I just didn't know that anyone at USPS would think it odd.
Just curious if any of you had tried that and it actually worked the way it should have.
