Happy Australia Day :appl:

i decided to celebrate here in Canada by making a meat pie for dinner - i just dropped the whole thing on the floor as i pulled it out of the oven. Australia Day FAIL :(sad

Its the most perfect Australia Day here in Queensland.
Temp 30 degrees (celsius) Humidity 50% not a cloud in the sky.
Just sat in the pool for an hour floating around and consuming a beer.
Now off to fir up the Barbie for a lamb dinner.
Happy Australia Day.
I love my sun burnt country

Congratulations! Happy Australia Day!

Nah, I think that's the Australia Day spirit! What would Australia day be without some sort fo failed dish... burnt lamb and sausages...

(I hope you managed to have a back up plan for dinner)

Happy Ozstralya day everyone!!

We went down to the beach early in the morning and I surprised my husband by being the first one in on the board ready to have a go and now We are on our way up to Perth to watch the skyshow.

This is too funny... I checked the Australia day thread from last year and we did the exact same thing. Apparently Australia day is the only day of the year my husband can convince me to get in the water and on a board.

how are the fires south of Perth?

No fires in the last few days, someone lit one in bush land within walking distance of my sisters house last week but thankfully they were able to put it out before it threatened any houses.

It would not surprise me one bit if it were the same person who lit the others around here in the last few months. :nono:

Welcome susimoo! :wavey:

There are a small number of us on here from Perth and I personally will be happy to answer any of your silly questions! Do you know the general area that you will be moving to?

glad things are under control!

Hi my (soon to be) fellow Aussies!!! :appl: :wavey:

Echidna, my husband is already there, left on Saturday. ;( I miss him soooooo much! Thank goodness for skype!

DD and I are are going out mid June, tickets are booked and paid for!!

HOT, you are in Perth!! Fab, now I know who to shout out too!!! At this moment we don't know exactly where. DH is working in the city so we won't be to far away. Feel free to give me recommendations!! ;)) He is starting to look at areas, schools etc and it is extremely confusing because we know no one over there really.
Far better to get advice from one who really knows, rather than a random guess. He will probably rent us a house for 6 months to a year till we really know what our life and therefore its requirements, in a very different climate will consist of.

Anyone else who has any thoughts, feel free to join in!!! :wavey:

actually, Nedlands seems nice enough as does Como.

while there are a lot of nice areas around Perth, we always stay in Fremantle when visiting hubby's family 'cause i cannot stand the summer heat. we visit with relatives and return to our ocean side retreat in the evening for me to cool off.

when last there in november we traveled up the coast from Fremantle and i was amazed at all the new development for miles and miles going along the coast. if i had lots of $ and were to live in the area, along the Swan River would be lovely....! but that takes LOTS of $$$$$$$$$. trust me: The Doctor is your friend! [ocean breeze that kicks up around 3p or so.......]

MZ     , how did you know my husband was Moroccan!!! I'll forward him the link so he can go scout it out!!!

Thank you for your wisdom. It is much appreciated. I will keep you posted on a separate thread as to how things progress. Can't wait to meet The Doctor!!!

Happy Australia Day everyone! It was 37 degrees in Canberra and I think we just about melted in the heat (we have NO AIRCON!). Went to no less than four different BBQ's and jumped fully clothed into a blow-up pool!!! Had a total blast. Not enjoying my sunburn now... :nono:
