Hello everyone,

I just bought a GHD flat iron. This will be my first professional iron (only used store brands that don''t get as hot) so I''m not really familiar with having to use a heat protector on my hair. I have very healthy shiny hair so I''m trying to do my best to keep it that way. It''s fairly straight, fine, doesn''t have alot of body to it though.

I was wondering if any of you ladies would care to share what your favorite heat protection products are? (Are there any that would do "double duty" that you could use before blow drying that would also protect for flat ironing afterward?)

How high does yours go up to? Just curious. . .mine is a T3 and goes to 410.

My hair is very course and splits at the top. To protect it, I only wash it every other day and do not flat iron if I'm going to be at home all day. Also, I heard it's damaging to hair to flat iron when it's still damp. Not sure if this is true.

Hopefully someone has some good recommendations, as I need a few products, as well.

yeah, WICKED SPLIT ENDS from this... I could even hear my hair sizzle... my poor fried hair.

I wouldn''t recommend this.

I use bedhead products.. I find they work, and I''m pretty rough w/ my hair. Though the blonder I go, the more product I need... esp conditioner! I live in a dry climate and have to use a thick conditioner... I like the Aussie 3 minute miracle for that... but it can weigh down the hair....

DEFINITELY don''t use a flat iron on wet or damp hair - very very bad!

I usually smooth on a bit of Frederic Fekkai glossing cream onto my hair before flat ironing (I have a GHD too, and I love it!), and then spray with a light glossing cream if necessary afterwards.

I use either Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream or Carol''s Daughter Hair Milk.

Sephora is the mothership! LOL! I had never been to one. We just recently got it at our mall and I went there over the weekend to pick up the GHD... (bf was with me) and I'm sure I looked like a deer in the headlights! I said "Oh. My. God. This is like makeup heaven! I have to come bake!" I'm sure bf thought "Oh. My. God. We will never get out of here!"

The checkout girl said "Such-in-such that works here is going to be so jealous she's be dying for this pink flat iron since we got them in." She rings everything up and I'm paying and she walkie-talkie's her little co-worker and says "Such-in-such, Someone just bought your pink GHD." I was smiling cause I to had been dying for a PINK good flat iron! (didn't like the chunk of change I had to drop on it though

This might be a stupid question, but when you spray/put the heat protector on your hair, do you leave it to dry? And for how long? When I don''t leave it long enough to dry I get the dreaded sizzle, but a few people have told me that that means it''s working...

HI:

I use Aveda Brilliant and Kerastase Ciment Thermique.

cheers--Sharon

I use Aveda Smooth Infusion... it has heat protectant and smoothing abilites all in one. Plus it smells great!
