Well I got my hair and make up trial done. I really liked the guy and feel like I can talk to him and explain likes and dislikes so I booked with him.

When he first started on my hair I told him it looked too high and asked him to lower it. When it was done it was too low, lol, my bad. Anyway, my hair will be higher the actual day so you can see more of the bun if you were staring at me face on. We also talked about making the top and bun a little big sleeker (I am so annal about sleekness). We will probably get rid of the part to make it easier.

As for makeup, he didnt have a good color for my lips that I liked so he is going out looking for one. We are thinking a fleshy slightly more pinkish color.

I also tried to get some outdoor shots but standingoutside around 2pm in southern cali is hard because it is so sunny. My eyes look even tinier then they really are.

Any comments will be appreciated (of the makeup and hair and such, please be kind towards my face features and and odd smily expressions and such). I am a little worried that under my eyes looks a little too shiny (could have been from me wiping the makeup off). Also, looking for more ways to make my eyes stick out a little bit more. I love my blue eyes, but they are just so small. Its hard to make em pop.

Ok I have got 6 pics. I will start with the hair ones...

I love you hair! It''s very elegant looking! I agree with the shiny under the eyes. Maybe your eye makeup didn''t stay on your lids and ran? My eyelids are oily and my eye shadow tends to do that. You look beautiful though!

It was mostly powder so I am worried that just applying it means that it kind of goes everywhere. I am going to bring it up with him and ask him if there is a way to avoid it. Another thing is that it could be the foundation he used. Because my forehead looks a little shiny as well. It doesnt really show in the outfoor pic but I dont want my guests who are seeing me in person to be like...what is on her face!

That is one plus about doing my photos before the wedding. I can get a little heavier make up done and then wipe some of it off before the ceremony/reception. Don''t know if I will, but it might be a way to get my eyes to stand out more in some pics without it looking super strange in real life.

Oh, one more thing. I was thinking of making the bun a little wider...what do you all think?

I love your hair! It looks fantastic.

I have blue eyes and have found that when I use a darker eye shadow with a heavier eyeliner my eyes pop a little more than when I use more neutral tones. When I first see myself in "heavy" make-up I always think I look odd and people are going to wonder what''s on my face but I''ve found I quickly adjust and people tend to compliment me - especially those seeing photos.

I also like the shimmery eye shadows but experience the same problem where the shimmer gravitates below my eyes. I''ve found that putting my foundation on my cheecks and under my eyes after I''ve applied the shadow helps.

Hi Gwyn, I think that once you get a little volume in the front, and some more sleekness on the bun it's going to look great.

Regarding your beautiful eyes, what would make them pop the most IMO is drawing in your brows more and shaping them (this will make a huge difference in how your eyes look), and you've got great length with your lashes but adding some fullness with fake individuals would be great as well. Some eyeliner (not black with your coloring, a nice THIN brown line) would also really emphasize things, especially if the lower lids were lightly lined as well.

You look lovely! I can't wait to see the final pics!

Ok, seriously..how much hair do you have when it''s not done up???? i LOVE that big bun at the back of your neck - it''s gorgeous! I know you wanted sleek looking, but i have to say that seems just un-sleek enough to also look romantic while still being "done." Either way, this is a stunning look for you.

RE: the makeup...i am a makeup (particularly eye shadow) junkie. Shimmery makeup always falls under my eyes too...i kind of like it sometimes. However, photos are going to pick it up on this day, so...my tips would be:

*if it''s powder, you could try mixing it with some water before applying it - it will make it stay on and not fall down as much. Having said that, it will also make the color stronger...have to make sure you still like the color when you mix it.

*try a liquid eyeshadow....clinique has some nice ones off the top of my head (my favorite is nude sparkle #06 - very shimmery but also subtle). They can be really shimmery and beautiful and they do not run or fall under the eyes.

The only way i can think of to make your pretty blues pop out more is a darker/heavier eyeliner....if you are comfortable with that (sometimes a dark charcoal is dramatic without being as stark as black).

You look fabulous!!!!!

One thing I didnt really like is the mascara he used. He used it because it is smeerproof, tearproof and all that jazz. It is a little weird because when you take it off it actually peels off.

Anyway, I didnt like it because it put my eye lashes in clumps, as opposed to spread out and more natural. We talked about using a different one, or putting on false individual ones.

I also have been letting my eyebrows grow out so I can wax them a few days beforehand but I have very light and small eyebrows. I will mention to him to fill them in a little more.

He originally used a black eye liner but it looked way too dark to me so he brushed over it with brown powder and said he will use a brown liner.

I will mention the concealer aroudn the bottom of the eyes too =)

I found a closed mouth picture that might be a little easier to see my lips and my eyes are less squinted.

I am pretty sure that we are going to go with a ligher color on the lips.

Ive got quite a bit of hair without it being done up. My hair comes down past my bra strap in the back. I have very thin strands of hair, but alot of them. lets see if i can find a pic. like most woman, I dont like alot of photos of myself so I never save them

OK. here is one of me a lil while ago (maybe 2 years). If I put my hair in front of my sholders like that now, my hair now comes down to right under my chest. So right where that fold is.

I did, however, use a filler for the hair style. Just a small donut looking thing. Very spongy like. He pulled a small portion of my hair through the middle of it and then started wrapping the rest around it.

As you can see from above, I almost never wear any make up so its hard for me to evaluate how make up looks on me. I tend to look at it and just see the makeup rather then seeing the whole picture.

LOL, my mom just called as I was posting. She said she likes my crows feet. I had to remind her Im turning 27, wrinkles are going to happen. I think she still thinks im 21 or something =)

ETA: there is a pic in my final fitting thread that was taken about a month ago, I think on the 4th of sept. The last pic I posted shows my hair in the back, to give an idea on length/fullness

Aaaah yes, i remember you - you were worried about your dress and your "girls" in the dress! You look great in that dress and the hair/makeup looks great too. You are going to be a beautiful bride....i see from your pics you don''t usually wear makeup, and you are so lucky that you look lovely with and without it!

Gwyn, to be completely honest, the only thing I like about your eye makeup is that your lashes look really dark and pretty. As someone else said, to make your eyes pop, your MUA should use an eyeshadow that is the opposite of your eye color. If you watch that show What Not to Wear (it''s on tonite) this is what the make-up artist Carmindy always puts brown eye shadow on her blue-eyed clients, and they look phenomenal.

First, "prep" your eyelids by putting a light layer of foundation on them. This will make the eyeshadow last longer and not crease at all (even powder creases if you have it on long enough).

Sweep on a shimmery champagne or white powder shadow just under your eyebrows, and then put a warm chocolate brown on your lids. Stay away from shimmer on the lid. It reflects too much light and doesn''t look good in photos. Blend well. And do take a light brown pencil to your brows, to fill them in a bit and darken them slightly. Try a brown eyeliner, and blend it right into the lash line. You will see a HUGE difference.

Oh, and when the shimmer from a powder eyeshadow falls beneath your eyes, use a dab of foundation or concealer to cover it up. It will disappear.

Your hair looks great. I have to agree with you and say it looks like you have eyeshadow under your eyes. If you want to make your eyes pop, have you looked into using false eyelashes? It looks like you have amazing lashes, but I''ve been told that false lashes help open up the eyes. If you are going to wear a blushy pink lipstick/lip gloss, I would also like to see a little more pigment in your eye shadow.

Gwen,

I love your hair. I am a grandmother and I am not good with eye shadow tips, so I will leave that to the younger girls.

I just want to tell you how beautiful you are. You have beautiful blue eyes and they just sparkle so.

You will be a beautiful bride!!!!!

Ooops, I meant Gwyn not Gwen...... Sheesh.

Hi Gwyn,

Your hair looks fabulous! I love it, and wish I had hair that could do that!

I feel like I have to tell you, in the nicest way possible, that based on what you said about the stylist re: the make-up, I would either do another trial with him or try to find someone else. I think he may be more experienced in the hair dept. than in the make-up dept.? I only say this because you mentioned that he didn''t have a wide range of lip colors, used a foundation and mascara that you didn''t like and lined your eyes in the wrong color to start. And, he should know how to make your eyes pop. I don''t think anything about his application looks like something you couldn''t achieve on your own.

I''m sorry if I sound mean, I don''t mean to, but I''m sure you''re paying a lot for his services and you deserve to look and feel phenomenal on your wedding day. I mean you''re already gorgeous, but your make-up artist should be able to complement that and amp it up for your photos.

Gwyn--you want brutal honesty? Here it comes...

Your hair looks great and you are beautiful! I''d really reconsider using the MUA you used at the trial, though. Why? The MUA didn''t have a good selection of colors available (even if he didn''t have the lip color you wanted, he could have tried mixing two colors). He didn''t make your eyes pop. He left discoloration under your eyes. He left sparkles from the eye makeup under your eyes. He left you with skin that doesn''t look glowing, but shiny. That is far too many things wrong for a professional makeup artist to have missed. If you decide to go with him, make sure he knows exactly what you want. You will be beautiful regardless, but you should be 100% happy with a service you are paying for and not leave it to chance!

Even if you think it''s last minute, there really are a lot of professional makeup artists in Los Angeles. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Ditto the eyebrows. I''m not sure that they need waxing? If anything you need more brow past the arch, and shaping. Love the hair.

The hair looks GREAT, don''t change a thing.

I''d agree with most posts about your makeup, it looks like you have accumulated eyeshadow under your eyes. I think your eyebrows need some more definition. I understand you want a really natural look, but you are so pretty, a little more well applied makeup will make you look absolutely stunning.

Your hair looks great.

I''m not such a fan of your makeup. Your eyes are a beautiful colour in the casual photo you posted, but you can''t see that in the makeup trial. It seems like all the makeup blends and won''t pop in your wedding photos.

Hi Gwyn!

The updo looks okay...I don''t care for the front so much--because I can''t tell if there should a part or not....but the back is very interesting.

The makeup is, in my opinion, a bit of a mess

. First, I have really high standard of what bridal makeup should be--and probably a harder eye than most people. You look lovely...both naturally, and made up. But, thats not the point. Bridal makeup is the age old less=more theory.

1. He needs to shade in your brows. This will frame those blue eyes of yours, and your face.

2. He needs to clean up his work! The glittery frost under your eyes is shadow that "fell" during the application. He should have wiped it off, or been more careful. And the fact that he let you leave like that ticks me off.

3. I personally custom blend all my brides lipstick...I never "shop around". He should have had a bigger selection, or got to mixin''. Or, had you go out shopping for the color...because, you know what you like...he''s met you, once? And during that one time, nothing he had (which are things he likes) suited you....

4. Your eyes need more dimension. Two or even three shadows would be more appropriate for your eye shade.

5. He shouldn''t have used eyeliner all the way around the end, only from the center of the iris and out. This will enlongate your eye, and open it up!!!

6. You look "shiny". Your skin is great, he should only use concealor on a few trouble spots (if you have any), under the eye, on the lid, and around the creases of your nostrils. The use foundation in the "t" zone and blend it out. Then, powder your face lightly with a nutural bamboo powder. Then apply a light-shimmer bronzer to your cheeks. Thats really all your skin needs.

But regardless, you are lovely--and your eyes are lovely...

Have to agree. Hair is looks good. I would find someone else for the make up. I would go for more matte colors on the eyes on make sure your skin is not shinny.

I ALWAYS use brown eyeliner with blue or brown eyeshadow (or a combo of both) to make my eyes pop and I also use blue mascara. Here''s a picture of my eyes the night I got engaged when I was wearing this combination. It''s by maybeline and it''s called something like tru color? I think my eyes are blue, maybe they are blue green...but anyways...that''s what I used...I hope this helps...
