Ok, so after a VERY long day yesterday (with some estate agents whom I would''ve liked to punch in the face if I''d had my way), James and I put a reserve on a 2-bedroom apartment in South Oxhey that will be ours if our reference check goes ok!

I wasn''t allowed to take any photos of the inside (which is ok, since it''s very bare and stuff anyway; there isn''t much to look at yet), but it''s at the end of a quiet, residential neighbourhood and most of the views out of the windows are of trees (which I love!) and there''s a communal garden and space for our stuff! The runner-up property was an adorable, furnished 1 bedroom house which we fell in love with too, but we were concerned that we would feel cramped soon after settling in (for example, James wants to bring his TV and his desktop computer, and we''re not sure there''s room for both those things). With the 2 bedroom, there''s probably more than twice as much space, since the living room is twice the size and there''s an extra (albeit small) bedroom. And there was only a £25 price difference! And the 2 bedroom is half the distance to the train station. It will take a bit to make it feel cozy and homey, but I like the idea of us doing stuff to make it our own too, in addition to loving the extra space. If it fall through, I think we would be perfectly happy in the little 1 bedroom house, but we''d prefer this one.

The paperwork came today (mailed yesterday after we made the deposit over the phone!), so James and I will fill it out and soon see if we will check out, reference-wise! I hope so; I am really happy with this apartment!

Thanks for checking in, ladies! It was a long couple of days, but it was worth it. Please keep your fingers and toes crossed for us that we will get it!

Ok, so I got some news today: James and I......

GOT THE APARTMENT!!!!!!

We''ve been busy packing and buying various items for moving in and have had this ''but what if we don''t get it?'' dread sort of feeling hanging over us, but we just found out our references check out and the contract is being sent in the mail for us to read over before we move in on Tuesday!!!!! WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! We are very excited and so very relieved that it has worked out!! YAY!!!!

Thanks, Maisie and Delster! It is very exciting. Right now we''re just about finishing packing all of J''s stuff into boxes (most of my stuff has been packed since I left school in mid-July). Everything is so insanely dusty, even after I''ve vacuumed three times, just from all the moving stuff around. I keep sneezing like a maniac! So glad it''s all almost over!!

J''s family is throwing us a farewell party on Monday (a bank holiday here) which will be a barbecue assuming the weather holds out (haha, which it won''t if the past week or two are any indication). We''ve got almost everything we could possibly want to start out with except for a couple of odds and ends, so when we move in and set everything up and I take pictures for y''all, you should be able to get a good idea of what the finished product will look like.

And I think I''m going to paint the living room robin''s egg blue...

Anyway! I hope everyone else is doing well. Thanks so much for checking in to wish me luck and congratulate James and me on our imminent (official) cohabitation!! After over 3.5 years of long distance, this is a *very* welcome change.

Hi, all, thanks for thinking of me!! Sorry for being MIA--it''s been REALLY busy these past two weeks, and this past week especially as it was the first full week of school and my job is insane! I am going to go collapse onto the couch for a while to recover, but suffice it to say I''ve got a few interesting tales to share with you all very soon.

Living with James so far has been absolutely lovely. We''re only about 2 1/2 weeks in, so I''m sure we''re not totally out of the living-together-adjustment-woods yet, but so far, so good.
