Hi girls!

October is the month of our weekend getaways (the girls go first and the the guys). I was thinking of sending my FI a little basket or something as a surpirse for Saturday. Maybe like some fruit or something to the hotel room....maybe some of his favorite wine to arrive while they get ready for the night?...or maybe something as a welcome that is there when he arrives?

Would that seem intrusive or cute?. I know I would like it (I love any kind of surprises!) but I''m not sure if it goes the same way with a guy.

Thoughts?

If the answer is don''t do it...tell me why. Otherwise, tell me any ideas on what to send (and when..they go from Friday to Sunday)

Thanks!!

To me, it seems like a way of giving your blessing and telling them to have fun. It doesn''t seem intrusive to me. After all, the whole getaway is to do with your wedding, why not send a little well-wishing gift along!

It''s not like you''d be trying to guilt them with a basket of ads for strippers clipped from the newspaper

Thanks Musey!

I see it the same way but want to make sure. I'm not talking about a big gift or anything that calls too much attention. Just maybe a cheese platter for when he gets to his room, or some fruit...just something little with a note to say have fun!.

I'd love to hear what others think so don't be shy! :))

My good friend sent her then FI tombstone shaped cookies inscripted "RIP: The end of your life as you know it" or something funny like that 13 days before their wedding. It was hysterical. I say do it, very sweet and thoughtful.

Maybe something like cigars or scotch if he and his friends like to do that stuff? I know my FI would appreciate it.

Hehe, Kimi, I just sent my FI a "GAME OVER" t-shirt anonymously in the mail too. He thought it was hilarious. So I am all for the surprise funny gifts too Mandarine.

LOL Kim that is pretty funny!

Neatfreak I''ve seen those t-shirts, they''re too funny!

The best man loves cigars (and they will be sharing a room). My FI doesn''t really like cigars, maybe I can send them a welcome little basket with a couple of cigars and a bottle of wine?...and I love the idea of adding something funny

I think that as long as the gift is light-hearted and fun it is a good idea. Obviously you trust your guy, and you really want him to have a good time, so go for it!

I think whether or not you send something depends mainly on your FIs friends and their maturity level. Are his friends mature? If so, I bet they''d see this as a nice gesture. However, if his friends are on the immature side and/or have teased him in the past about being whipped/ make "ball and chain" jokes about marriage, etc... then I wouldn''t send anything. You don''t want your FI to be teased more than necessary that weekend.

So, evaluate which guys will be going on this weekend with your FI (especially the best man, since it sounds like that is who will be sharing the room with your FI). If you are unsure as to how his friends would react to you sending something, I''d lean towards not sending anything. While it is a very sweet thought, he won''t miss it if you don''t send anything. Plus, you could always send him something at work the week before the wedding or some other time that is more private, but still gets your sweet gesture across.

Good luck with the decision (and have fun on your girls weekend too)!

Excellent point!!!

I think most of his friends are pretty mature, but I don''t know all of them very well...maybe like 50% of them. The best man definitely wouldn''t tease him...specially if I include a cigar for him...lol.

I also like the idea of surprising him with something a few days before! That seems sweet :) and I could do something funny...

I am thinking that either something as they arrive or something a few days before. Saturday they might be running around and it may be harder to catch them.

Thanks again :))
