Hey y'all, I hope someone here can help me with this.
I just got out of the movie and noticed that I have 2
small (*well, they look HUGE to me !!!)
Grease spots on the toe of one of my Old Gringo boots.

My FAVORITE BOOTS !!!!! :(( :(( :((

It must have happened when I was putting the stupid
fake popcorn butter on my popcorn, somehow a couple drops
must have splashed down onto my boot toe, I guess...

PLEASE, someone must have some sort of remedy?
Will it come out????????

WAH !!!!!!

Hmmm a good leather/tack soap like the kind for horse tack and saddles might help. But honestly oil is better for leather than drying out. It changes the color to darker as the leather ages bcuz it acquires patina. It's normal and part of good leather. I don't know if you can take the spot out but using a good leather soap/oil will help make the rest of the boots the same color. Also the spot might fade some in time even if you don't do anything.

Awww thank you so much !!! :))
This has really gotten me a bit upset, I guess it's silly.
I didn't mind the scuff marks too much, but the oil spots seem to bother me more, you know?
Even if they "are" small.......

oh no, sorry I am of no help!

Well, one post closer to 10k, so not a total loss. ;)) ;))

OooShiney: do you have a local cobbler or leather repair person who could take a look at your boots and at least condition the leather? I take mine to a leather shop every so often to have them re-heeled and patched or conditioned and the charge is so minimal compared to what it would cost to buy new shoes/boots. Good luck!

Thank you both too !!!

You know, the thought of finding a good cobbler didn't even occur to me,
here in TX there are probably a few around :sun:

I think my boots will benefit from a little conditioning,
if I can't get a good result by myself, then off to the
Boot Spa they will go !!!

My cobbler uses a type of glue that draws the oil out. They put it on, let it harden and dry. Take it off and then condition the entire thing. They got a grease stain the size of a gold ball out of one of my nice purses this way.

A REALLY good leather place or cobbler will be able to help you.

Ooooo I wish I had some of that glue !!!!
Darnit !!!
It's great that they could fix your handbag, grease on handbag = FAR worse than
grease on boots !!!!!!! UGH !!!!!

I am going to see what I can do ~ thanks y'all for your great suggestions. :))

I've used cornstarch before to pull an oil stain out of my Uggs. Just coat the stain with it and let it sit for a while, the starch will pull the oil out of the leather.
