Got my lost bird back - I am so surprised!

Love these stories about recovering lost birds! I think it is a rare event.

I took my dove to the avian vet to make sure he is ok and the vet was totally surprised by the story. Apparently most lost birds don't make it back, especially after multi day absence. My bird is back to his energetic selt. First few days home he was totally exhausted. Just lay on the floor and looked like he would die. But now he is fine again!

So glad your bird is back home. I worry about our little parakeet escaping and always try to cage him up, or confine him by shutting an inside door, before opening a door to the outside. I sometimes wonder if it is worth the extra trouble. It's good to hear that these extra precautions are worthwhile to keep him safe.
