Dear @Kim N,
I' m sending you positive thoughts and a big hug.
I understand exaclty what you are going through.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer on the 3rd of December 2020. I underwent surgery, two cycles of chemo, radiotherapy and i will be getting Arvekap injections and Nolvadex pills for at least a total of five years.
Initially i was in shock and denial. But very soon i decided that it's just another challenge that i need to deal with. I found my surgeon who operated on me, then i found my oncologist, who was supervised my chemotherapy and finally my radiologist, who planned and supervised my radiotherapy. These three people literally saved my life and i will be forever grateful to them. Every time i met a new doctor and i was scheduling the next phase of my therapy, i felt better and more positive and motivated. A moment came when i stopped feeling any fear and i was only concerned with the practical issues of my surgery, recovery, therapies, etc.
Nevertheless, i didn't have insurance and my husband and i had to use all our savings for me to be able to get immediate and proper treatment. So that was tough, but we managed.
It was not a pleasant experience but it was a valuable experience. It taught me how to be patient and strong, it showed me that i'm capable of things that i had never imagined, it gave me the opportunity to see who were the people who truly loved me and cared about me and finally it helped me appreciate my life more and see things from a different perspective.
I wish you all the best. I want you to know that a moment will come when all these difficulties will be in the past and the stronger, healthier, new you will continue moving forward in life with inspiration and optimism.
I will keep you in my prayers...
We are all here for you...
Hi Kim. We have never corresponded but I have read so many of your kind and thoughtful messages to others. I hope the surgery goes well, that the medical team that helps you see and understand all of the problems, and that you have a complete and total recovery.
Thank you so much to you all for the continued support. I am so touched by this wonderful community. I'm going in tomorrow bright and early. Fingers crossed all goes well.
@pearlsngems That's reassuring to hear—I hope the surgeon can do that in my case as well. Thanks for the recommendation on the bras. I've bought a couple.
@diamondyes Oh, I just started watching Ted Lasso and think it's fantastic. Any other well-acted (potentially UK-based) comedies you can recommend?
@Natylad Your post brought tears to my eyes. You are so strong and such an inspiration. Thank you for sharing.
Continuing to send bucketloads of healing vibes your way @Kim N and may tomorrow’s surgery go as smoothly as possible and be 100% successful
