GOP goes nuclear

https://www.aol.com/article/news/20...rsuch-gop-works-change-senate-rules/22028833/

I asked this in another thread but maybe it got overlooked.

Does this mean the rule is changed forever and you cannot go back?

Getting rid of the filibuster means the minority party has absolutely no recourse to block supreme court nominees, making them completely powerless unless some of the majority party members join them.

While the filibuster can be reinstated, why would any party in power do so? Think about it: as the party in power, you can push through ANY nominee, as long as you have 51 of your members agreeing. Who would give that up?

This effectively gives control of all 3 branches of the government to the Republicans. I hope they don't **** it up.

ETA: I was wrong, this "nuclear option" only gets rid of the remaining filibuster against Supreme Court nominees. I corrected my post above.

tc, I'm so glad to agree with you.
It's so disingenuous for Dems to pretend they wouldn't do the same given the opportunity.
Yeah, Ruby, there is another thread on this.

Oh, and I also hope they don't mess it up.
