Woohoo! I love how scrappy this team is and the fact that there is no one superstar. If someone is having a down day, someone else steps up. I''m nervous about the Yankees (assuming they win the ALCS), but it will be an interesting series no matter what!

Actually, this is a hard series for me...I''m from Yankee country but live in the heart of Philly...good thing I''m not that into baseball! I''m excited that the Phillies are doing so well again, but I have to say, this is the time of year I really hate living in CC near Broad Street. I finally managed to get to sleep at 2:30 in the morning!

Yay Phillies! And on a jewelry related note, I was at the game on Sunday night, and a baseball stadium is the perfect place to look at your jewelry sparkle and shine. Now I have to get World Series tickets!

My last hope was that the Dodgers would take it. Now that it looks like its going to be Philly/NY, I''ll root for the Phillies because I HATE the yankees. with a passion. with every bone in my body.

Eh...I don''t really follow baseball at all. I was just extremely perturbed by the traffic last night. I work in West Philly and live in the museum district of Center City. I got off work at midnight and hitched a ride back with a friend so I wouldn''t have to take the trolley at midnight. We quickly found out that EVERY SINGLE ENTRANCE TO CENTER CITY WAS BARRICADED!!!!

We eventually got in at Chinatown, after being unable to enter the city via Chestnut, Market, the Parkway, or Broad (via 676)...all due to police barricades. It was heinous! And it made me wonder...if all the police officers were there blocking entrance to the city, who was there to actually protect the people INSIDE the city?!?

jstar, I know what you mean...last night, DH and I walked a friend of ours to 30th Street Station so he could get a train back to New York. We were a bit early so decided to grab a beer, and there were easily 25-30 police officers at the bar in the station, watching the game. More kept coming while we were there, too. It was crazy. (They also had their PPD "Weed and Seed" motor-home van outside the station, which gave us a laugh). We wondered if they were supposed to be sitting around there, but since we saw higher-ranking officers as well as patrol cops, I guess it was okay?

Definitely felt safe at the station, not so much on the walk home...

Man that sucks, I feel for ya. That''s just wrong to have blocked all the entrances...


I think our city has a ton of work to do in this department, but that''s for another thread. You should start one..

I''m a lifelong Dodger fan, but also a good sport. The Phillies earned it fair and square. They completely outplayed the boys in blue

Now i''m rooting for the other L.A team... I hope it will be a Phillies/Angels World Series!

Look, I really had and still have my doubts about beating the NYY. BUT we are a great team, you can call us the frillies, put us in skirts a la The New York Post. But we got heart...

I will say the NYY crowd is so polite...We don't see much of that in Philly.
