Key details:
1) You cannot return the vehicle until after 30 days are up. You can only return it betwen days 31 and 60.
2) You cannot return the vehicle if there is $200 or more damage (say a good ding or a few scratches, a major interior upostry stain, etc). The local GM dealer gets to set the value of any such damage they find.
3) You cannot return the vehicle if there is more than several thousand miles on it (I have seen two different numbers 3000 & 4000).
4) You cannot return the vehicle if it has been involved in any accident (no matter how minor).
5) While you get the "ballance due" after tradein value back - the tradein value of your old vehicle can be offered as a credit towards the purchase of another GM vehicle.
Sounds like a good way to alianate more people when they try to return their vehicle.
Note that I had 4000 miles on my new Hyundia within a month or so - as I specifically purchased it just prior to a trip this spring.
Have a great day,
Perry
