A woman in California decided to take revenge on her former boyfriend when he left her and took with him jewellery that he had formerly given her by cooking and eating some of his goldfish.

If she wanted to be mean she could have just killed them, actually cooking and eating them is a bit overkill.

When the man refused to return the jewellery, she took seven goldfish from his west Pasadena home to her apartment, Mitchell said.

The man called police who sent officers to the woman''s home to see if they could retrieve the fish.

“She said, ‘They''re in there,'' and pointed to the kitchen,” Mitchell said.

The officers found a plate in the kitchen with four fried fish, and asked where the others were. The woman answered, “I already ate those,” Mitchell said.

Because the fish were bought when the couple lived together, they were considered community property, he said.

“There was nothing we could do,” Mitchell said. “If he wants to pursue it, it''s a civil case.”

The dad of my son''s friend picked his son up from my house the other day and saw my fish tanks. His dad said "Oh, if you are ever in the mood for sushi you are all set".
