She''s hot, rich and famous...of course she''s better than us.

I believe it. I was in back labor for 31 hours and 2 full bottles of pitocin. Horrendous experience to say the least. On the other hand there was another first time mom in my Lamaze class who had a six hour labor and said it was barely more than bad period cramps. We''re all different.
Hell, I would describe period cramps as horrendous! I''m in for it.

Childbirth is painful. No doubt about it. I didn''t use pain relief for 3 of my deliveries and it was extremely painful! I think stories like the one posted give first time mothers false hope!

Wow, you are good. My sis uses pain relief for her first born but decide to try without it the 2nd time round. Ended up totally bloodshot face, her facial capillary blood vessels burst from her using using the wrong force and the wrong place... 3rd child pain relief again... :P
I was rather proud of myself...although I think any woman who gives birth is a hero whether she has pain relief or not. Having a baby is the best thing in the world to me!

Now don''t smack me but...I had a drug-free delivery and did not feel any pain. I felt the contractions but they weren''t horrible. The contractions stopped and I pushed when they told me to and I felt nothing. I always heard that the body has a natural numbing effect that happens when the baby''s head crowns. I did not feel the episiotomy either. BUT they did give me a local numbing injection to repair the episiotomy and I DID feel that!

With my second child I went from 3 to 8cm while I sat waiting for an ultrasound. I didn''t feel it and they had to elevate my feet above my head to slow down the labor.

Even I say it''s freaky and don''t usually talk about it because no one believes me. But it is possible to have no or very light pain throughout a natural labor and delivery.

I do sympathize with those with long labors. My mother was in labor for 3 days back in 1948 with my brother who was 10 lbs 2 oz!

I admit that I DID NOT feel DD come out but I sure did feel the contractions! I had no pain meds but only because I progressed so quickly. An epi wasn''t an option and, by the time the got an iv in me, they had to use it for Magnesium because my blood pressure went through the roof. I was ready to push before there was time for another iv for pain meds.

Tis true.

I also didn''t feel my contractions. I didn''t know I was even having contractions. I felt the pitocin though and that''s when the epi became my bff

I have a friend that described her natural, first-time labor as merely "uncomfortable" and not painful. She must have been having some effects from the contractions, as her husband said it was time to go to the hospital when she couldn''t keep up her end of the conversation. But she has a ridiculous pain tolerance, has since we were little, so I believe her but also believe she''s on the far end of the normal scale. Probably not coincidentally, she was also pretty surprised at how easy her pregnancy experience was, given all the horror stories of discomfort and other effects that newly pregnant women hear from the experienced moms. However, my friend is kind of the opposite of a whiner, so I kind of expect this from her. Also makes her a little less tolerant of other people''s aches and pains and whining, though she does at least get the concept that other people have different experiences and tolerances than her.

So... could be Giselle is one of those rare breeds for which labor isn''t painful. But just how it was phrased, I don''t know, makes it seem like her experience is the one true way or something. Oh well, probably not worth worrying about, and good for her if she got through it without writhing in agony! No point in suffering needlessly!

Here''s my theory: She really didn''t feel a thing when she gave birth, because she was asleep. And she would rather stick sharp pencils in her ears than admit it. The comment about walking around and washing dishes on the second day confirms it for me. The lady doth protest too much, methinks. She also commented that the baby didn''t cry. That would be rare indeed. Doesn''t a baby have to cry to draw it''s all important first breath?
I''m not saying all of the above isn''t possible, it''s just that she seems to be making far too many ''So in your face MORTALS!'' statements for the whole thing to be plausible.
20.gif

If she''s willing to lie about plastic surgery to avoid criticism, why not this?

I could be wrong, who knows for sure?
Twilight sleep birth. My husband''s grandmother (supposedly) had that kind at least once. They have you fall asleep all pretty in your makeup and then wake up a few hours later with a precious baby in your arms. I *begged* my midwife for that type of delivery, but she said no. lol

Gisele irritates me to no end - I don''t care for her & Tom Brady at all after he left his pregnant long-time partner for her. The comment she had made some months ago about Bridget Monahan''s son was really innappropriate.

However, the article mentioned that she had a water birth - I have a cousin who had a water birth, and she also swears that it was nearly painless. So, I don''t know if she''s exagerrating, but I have heard that water births are a lot more comfortable than standard births.

I''m thinking enough time has passed and she''s forgotten about a lot of the pain. That seems to happen to women who''ve given birth, myself included. I think it''s nature''s way of ensuring many of us will want to do it again.
9.gif
I still remember the pain from #2 - after over 90 hours (28 after my water broke naturally) and a failed spinal - I remember the moment they were putting me under general anesthetic and begging for darkness and saying to myself I didn''t even care if I lived - I just wanted the dark NOW and forever was okay. I also remember screaming at the top of my lungs for god to kill me... yeah I remember that. But I still went on to have #3 lol

I guess I figure to take it w/a grain of salt and consider the source. She''s a model/celebrity. Most aren''t really going to be publicly announcing how it was the most excruciating thing ever and she cried and moaned and called her husband nasty names and yelled at the nurses. (I''m not saying she did that, it''s just an example) Jenny McCarthy said in her book (I believe it was her-I read about it in a magazine haha) that she pooped on the delivery table while having her son..some celebrities will tell it like it is and some insist on trying to make us believe fairy tales. Maybe GB farts rose petals too, who knows?

Not saying the painfree childbirth never happens, I just think sometimes people (and by people, I mean celebs) tell a version of the truth and occurrences that has been tweaked by their publicist. They''re going to sprinkle fairy dust and the clouds will part to let thru a ray of light onto her just as she gives birth as the angels in the background sing.

Celebs never get sore and cracked nipples from breastfeeding, they never have hemorrhoids from pushing..it''s always the absolute perfect way it could happen. They''re never up 4 days straight, sitting on the floor bawling b/c the baby won''t go to sleep and they don''t know what to do and they haven''t showered in 2 weeks and have dried spit up on their clothes that haven''t been changed in they can''t remember when. They''re perfectly coiffed and their children magically do everything right, or they''ve somehow found the perfect answer to every mom concern.

Thats it. I want to be a celebrity. I want a ray of sunshine and singing angels! *stamps foot*

I can''t even figure out why she''s the highest paid model. I don''t say things like this often, but I think she''s rather ugly. However, the main reason why I dislike her is because she''s so self absorbed. Same for Brady.

Ditto to the highlighted part. Even though I would never call her ugly, there is something kind of mannish about her look to me - kind of like a drag queen.

I think that her fellow Brazilian Victoria''s Secret model, Andriana Lima, is far more attractive. I also really loved the "glamazon" look that was popular in the early 90s - Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Tyra Banks. Gisele''s look just doesn''t do it for me.

Agree..she always seemed pretty average looking to me (for a supermodel) albeit with a good body. However I didn''t know about the plastic surgery, so in fact even that''s nothing special!

Regarding pain-less births, I didn''t mean to discredit or judge this theory (although I think we can admit it is v. rare and more a state of mind than actual fact). I also agree that nature has a way of foggying the memory (I think I just made up a word). In my case I do have a hard time remembering what the pain felt like, but I surely didn''t forget that I was in a lot of pain!

I was mostly annoyed due to the person delivering the message (and her history for stupid comments on touchy subjects and women''s issues) and the wasy she expressed it. The opening paragraph of the article also sets the tone by insinuating she''d made yet another self absorbed comment!

I thought her smug comments regarding her boyfriend''s baby eing hers were WAY out of line. If I were the baby''s mother, I probably would have tried to get visition curtailed {just to prove a point about WHO was the mother....}

Same with Heidi Klum. When she''s not wearing makeup, she totally looks like a guy.

Actually that Tyra show America''s next top model made me realize how having a pretty face doesn''t make a model, and some of the girls that had distinctly not-pretty faces in repose would just take better pictures, provide a more interesting frame walking clothes down the runway, etc. I''m not sure how to put it, but I don''t think a pretty face is exactly the perfect face for a model.

One of my favorite Giselle images is the cover with her and LeBron James, where he is making a scary face with a basketball and is really physically imposing, and she is just grinning (much diff. that your average model pose) looking luminous and like she''s having a lot of fun. Its just playful, and works, even though her face doesn''t look ''pretty'' in it...

I''m not really a fan of Gisele''s look or what she says, but I love Heidi Klum! I think she''s very pretty with and without makeup. Here''s a pic of her from 7/2009 without makeup:

There are A LOT of girl that could be models, cause I have seen many tall stunning women walking past me without make-up on and they were gorgeous... ( not me lol ) Maybe they were? :)

But overall, models without their make-up and done-dos whatever, put into a crowd in average looking clothes like the most of us, would probably go un-noticed.

I LOVE Heidi Klum! She''s so pretty and she seems like such a nice person. I''d love to have her for a friend in real life, lol. Yes, I''m delusional.

Haha Hudson Hawk - I think the same way as you, but I imagine being good friends with Sarah Brightman. lol. I''m joining you in the delusional club!

LOL oh how fun that would be! You could have girly nights where you drink wine and sing ALW show tunes!

I''m not a fan of Gisele but she gave 1.5 million to the Red Cross for Haiti after the earthquake, so I can just ignore her for the next few months not actively dislike her.
