Hey Ginger - not sure if you are on here much anymore, as I haven''t seen you posting in a while, but I was hoping that you would pop in and answer a few dress related questions!

So I''m in the process of having my dress altered, and the next time I go I am dealing with the bustle - can you tell me how many points yours was? They are charging me 25 per point! Isn''t that nuts?!

Also, you had the ivory dress right? What colour vest/tie did your hubby wear? We went today and he was thinking about white tie/white shirt but then I got worried about how the dress is ivory - would that look weird? So as of now he is going with a gold tie to match the gold in the embroidery.

As far as the colour of your veil went - was it ivory? I''m going to order online and it is tough without the dress right here!

Umm - I think that is it for now - hopefully you see this!!

Thanks in advance!

hi october2008bride!
35.gif
i haven''t posted in awhile (i feel so outdated and lost with all the new brides) but i do lurk and drool over dresses, venues, and i always love looking at wedding pics. i was wondering how your plans were coming along! i am definitley stalking for your wedding pics come october!

i cannot remeber how many points my bustle was, and i''m on call tonight so i am stuck in the hospital
14.gif
but i''ll be happy to go home and count for you tomorrow. it''ll give me an excuse to pull out the dress

. i actually paid a fixed price at the boutique i bought the dress at and it covered any and all alterations, insurance, steaming and cleaning for the bridal shoot and before the wedding (although i didn''t do a bridal shoot) and delivery to the ceremony site on the day of so i didn''t have to worry about transporting the dress. total was ~$350-$400 (i think). which was steep in my opinion. i did a quote at an outside place and needed the waist taken in, hem up, straps shorthened, bustline taken in, booby pads inserted
3.gif
and a multipoint french bustle and was quoted about $200-250. I''m pretty sure my bustle had at LEAST 6-8 points, so that would be $200 just for your bustle which i think is INSANE! but i know prices are going up, up, up in the wedding industry so i have no idea what is comparable now.

i got the ivory dress with gold embroidery. hubby did ivory/ivory, groomsmen and bms did ivory/chocolate. honestly, i don''t think it''s a huge deal the whole ivory white thing. people say supposedly if he wears white it''ll make your dress look "dirty". somehow i highly doubt that a tiny triangle of white on the groom''s shirt will affect how ppl see ur dress. but that''s just me. and noone obsesses over the ivory/white thing but brides. other than when i was making the decision, i have NEVER noticed if the groom vs the bride wore ivory vs white and i''m a pretty big wedding fanatic (obviously!).

i made my veil. i bought ivory tulle and didn''t have a swatch. when i did get the swatch i freaked out cuz i thought the tulle was too yellow, but by that time it was too late (i made my veil two days before the wedding--eek!
23.gif
). but when i put it on with the dress (since my dress was delivered, i never saw the 2 together until the day of) because the tulle was so so sheer, you couldn''t tell what color it was -- it was just this hazy, sheer, floaty thing -- whaich was exactly what i wanted. i was very happy with how it looked day of. i wouldn''t fret over matching exactly. i think you''re pretty safe going with ivory. that being said, i just thought of something. i did a single layer, so the color isn''t very strong. if you do multi layers (like haven''s grogeous confection), the color of the tulle will stand out more and you might need to be more careful about color selection. what kind of veil are you going with?

HTH! and you better better post pics! come 10/2008 i''m going to be seriously stalking this forum waiting for your pics!

Yay! Thanks for replying Ginger! I really appreciate it! It is so funny - I used to be a good decision maker, but now with the internet, I feel like I can''t make one without researching it inside and out, and knowing that you were out there with the same colour dress, I couldn''t decide without hearing what you said! haah

I''m going to get a quote from someone else for the bustle then - truly I wasn''t comfortable having someone work on the beaded top part if they weren''t used to Reems, and since only one store just recently started selling them, I couldn''t find someone nearby. However, for the bustle I don''t think they can really mess up the dress, right?

Okay so if we didn''t go with the ivory/ivory, what would you think of the white shirt and a gold tie - do you think that would work with ''our'' dress?

So funny you made your veil 2 days before the wedding! I''m going with a single layer drop veil. Nothing to interfere with the dress!! I''m just trying to decide if I should get just a cut edge, or get a pencil edge. Most drops I''ve seen lately have been cut edge, so again, I''m on the fence!

Once I go for my next fitting, I''ll take some decent pics and post them! And yes, I''ll post wedding pics for sure!!! The invites just went to the printer, so everything is starting!

Thanks again for all of your help!

I think white and gold will be fine!

I love cut/unfinished edge because it gives more of the illusion of a soft cloud of tulle more so than a finished edge would. But that''s just my preference.

That''s so exciting about the invites! What are the colors you''re doing again?

I''m a damask bride - so black and white with a little red. The flowers will be mostly red too. I''ve been having issues with my printer though, so we''ll see how that goes!!

I''ll attach a picture of the tie - it is next to the white and the ivory. See what you think!
