i just wanted to ask if anyone's getting their fiance/DH anything for valentine's

i have no idea what to get him and i was wondering if you can help me decide. i just got engaged over the christmas...but i didn't have anything for him  and when he asked..."so~ where's my gift!" i said ..."here! (pointing @ self)" but no, seriously...i need to get him something and i wanna get him something nice. =\ well , not nice like 10,000 nice...i can't afford that, but something under $300 i'd be very comfortable with.

can people please share ideas with me??

thaaaaaaaaaaanks!

LOL. I had not gotten DH a gift since we got engaged.

What does your FI like? What is he into? Any hobbies? Fave sport team?

yeah, what does he like?

camera?
take him to a nice dinner?
tickets to sporting event?
watch?

I got BF some super awesome soldering tools for Christmas. They're still shrink-wrapped, but he's shown them off to all his friends, so I totally got street cred out of it. I got the idea by asking my engineer friends what a good geeky gift would be, and they helped me find top-of-the-line kits.

Obviously being a fan of these forums and a watch aficionado myself, I would have to say most men would love a nice watch. Tickets to a game is always great but for valentines day something you picked out for him with some sentiment is nice. Of course, the caveat is I am quite picky about watches I wear so would be hard to pick for me! :naughty: Another idea is a nice wallet. My fiancee bought me a designer wallet (to replace my 10 dollar version) because she thought since she had all these nice leather items (Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, etc), I should have something. To be honest, I think I still prefer the 10 dollar type but it was really nice and I use my overpriced Gucci wallet proudly! :) Lastly, if he is a cigar aficionado, a top line lighter/cutter combination is always nice. You could always have one engraved.

Obviously, everyone is different and has different tastes maybe I am just posting in hopes of my fiancee reads this post!! hahaha :naughty:

I don't get DH V-day gifts. I make homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast and whatever he wants for dinner. He usually brings home flowers and my favorite wine. It's perfect.

Tim: can you link me to the cigar cutter/lighter combo? There's 3 people I can buy that for and so I'd love to see good options!

Vintage, I could get carried away with this as there are many options. How serious of cigar smokers would you be buying for? When we say "combo", the actually make like "gift sets" with lighter and cutter included and they actually make a real combination that has a cutter built into the lighter. IMO whereas the 2 in 1 in a nice option and convenient, the quality of the cutter is better in the separate cutter but I still use the combo. I will link a few good brands and you can see what you like. Let me find the sites.

I am about to solve you problem.

1) UGG Slippers
2) Plush Bathrobe from Neimans Or Nordstoms
3) Something sweet from Victoria secret that you can wear
4) Norelco Mens Body Groomer + manly body wash

Trust me, these would be the best gifts ever.

She at some point has given me 1, 2 and 4, and I could not live without them

She has plenty of 3

Does he have a favourite sports team? What about (good) tickets to go to a game? Or maybe a weekend away someplace he loves to go? (I'm all about experiences over gifts, so if that's not you guys, take my suggestions with a grain of salt.)

Ok, I decided that I am not going to get carried away like I am sometimes known to do. I will give you some good brands and just like anything, the options are limitless (depending on what they like/preferences). Also I will include some examples but I just did quick searches for on illustration so not vouching for the vendor/price. My favorite is colibri, great reputation, long history, and great warranty. I have several and enjoy them. Just like anything, lighters/cutters can get pricey.

www.colibri.com

Here is an EXAMPLE of a colibri lighter/cutter combo (i personally own this one and good for every day use)

Here is an EXAMPLE of a gift set and a QUITE NICE set at that:

Another great lighter (probably better known for their cutters) is Xikar. Also lifetime warranty.

www.xikar.com

I am not sure they make the 2 in 1 combo, but here is a nice gift set (I also own this set and order often from this cigar company)

Lastly, Prometheus makes an excellent lighter.

I had a combo in the past but mostly used my Xikar these days and I have a real nice colibri I use on special occasions.

Hopefully that helps without going too out of control. Answering that question is like answering "hey I want to buy a diamond, point me to a good one" but at least get you in the direction of some recognized manufacturers and examples of the sets. There are many others and each has a wide variety of choices, the above are my personal favorites that are all pretty recognized by cigar smokers. Hope that helps.

Tim:
Thank you SO MUCH! Dad's are SO hard to shop for and you've just found the next gift for what ever occasion for my FIL and my dad! I would get one for SO but he's just quit smoking and tends to use "cigars" as an excuse to smoke so I can't buy him one of these and giving him the impression that it's okay

I like this one because it looks like you could weld with that sucker!

I'm paying for DH to get his custom license plate back. I made him get rid of it a few years back when we only had one car. But, now that we have two again I think he'll like it :)

I am getting my DH a tie from the Red Envelope company. It has a small pocket in the back, for a silver heart token that is engraved saying "you carry my heart" and my name on the other side.

There are a lot of sentimental/under $100 gifts there.

DH is going to the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta on April 6th-8th on behalf of his company. His Valentine's/birthday gift is that I was able to extend it through the 10 of April and got him access to the Executive Club. It's a secret so don't tell anyone!

My DH would die and go to heaven for this!

Oh this sounds wonderful; mmmm, nothing like homemade cinnamon rolls!!!

Hubby usually makes me a heart shaped pizza for Valentines. We aren't big on gifts, just fun silly little things we buy each other. Did you ask your guy want he would like? My dh is hard so I ask him about 6-9 prior to the date so that I have ideas in mind. Good luck!

My husband and I aren't into big gifts for Valentine's more into writing silly love letters and maybe some chocolates, for me. I like the VS idea though, I haven't bought anything new in that department for ages and know he would appreciate it :naughty:
There's a candle I got him he really liked which he used up. If I have time I'll pick up another nice candle.
