Wee bit of salon drama.

I went to a home-based salon last year for 2 haircuts. It went pretty well. The cuts were decent quality, and I left a 20% tip.

I coworker convinced me to try her stylist and raved about her abilities, so I gave her a go for 4 haircuts. I don't know why I stayed for the 4th as the cuts weren't great, and the last one was a disaster.

Wanting to go back to the original lady after a year, I texted her. She said she had a few appts later in the month but nothing this week (what I was hoping for). I asked for those dates, and nothing. I gave it a few more days and texted again saying I'm still keen but if she's fully booked, I understand but please let me know. Nothing.

I'm ok with her possibly being at capacity for a client base, but does anyone find it odd that she's ghosting me? Odd way to run a business? Did I do something wrong by moving on for a year? It seemed inappropriate to make an exit announcement, that's kinda weird to do so. I wasn't sure the new salon would work out. And... it didn't.

Anyone feel like giving me a cut? Looking rough over here.

Okay. She finally replied and all the appts in September are now gone.
I'm gonna thank her for replying but move on. Getting a weird vibe.

I would move on too as it does not seem right that she provided with some dates, no further communications over a period of time has passed, to reply the appointments had gone, based on the information you posted in your original post.

DK :confused2:

100% all the way @dk168!
Not sure what, if anything went wrong but the Universe is pointing me in another direction.

half the population stay with one hairdresser and the other flipps between salons all over town
i have long hair and trim it my self
good luck with your new hairdresser

I have strong oriental straight hair and a double crown, and it is very difficult to cut well.

Hence I have been with the same stylist and cutter since 2006 at the same salon close to where I used to work.

The salon where she is based has 2 other stylists whom she recommended as her backup when she was on holidays and maternity leave.

DK :))

I used to be very loyal to my stylist but after mine retired I'm struggling to find one that gets my hair, being fine, wavy and thinning as I approach 60. I'm trying a new person tomorrow, a guy.

I've gotta say... all of the rest of the crap that comes with meno I kinda sorta accepted, but thinning hair is a bitter pill to swallow.

How long do haircuts take that you have to book ages in advance like with a doctor??

I feel spoiled - I text my stylist when I’m free and in need of a cut. Usually get an appointment within a couple days max. Sometimes I’ll text him being like “free now?” And he’ll say “sure come on down”. Have occasionally been forced to cancel last min but he’s very accommodating about it. And this stylist is very in demand all over the city.
