I know this type of thread has been done already, multiple times over. I'm not a huge venter, and I hope everyone will excuse me for this, but I must vent.
My disclaimer is that I'm not an expert, I know just enough to get the kind of stones I like, but that's it.
Gah, my dear friend, who is intelligent, and her husband, who also is, bought such a poor quality wedding set. And they've overpaid. By a lot.
(I can't help feeling like some benevolent overlord when I write this, but I sincerely don't feel that way. I'm not an expert, and would still need help when purchasing my stones. I would never talk about this with friends, because I can't phrase it tactfully enough not to sound like an ass, plus they're mutual friends and can't stand hurting feelings)
I just don't understand why, when information is readily available and easily accessible, that intelligent folks who are fans of research could be so duped.
Jared. Two matching bands, one above, one below, both loaded with melee. The solitaire band itself is loaded with melee, with the center stone at about 1/3 to 1/2 carat, high color but terrible clarity. The melee is bad, too. Not that I've louped it, but I can see with the naked eye the color differences. Uncerted.
She's always losing pave stones, and just paid way too much. I've cleaned her rings several times, I enjoy doing it, and I just feel sad every time. They paid 9k for the set, and I'm certain that's about 5 k too much.
Worst is they put it on credit. Our husbands work in similar fields, the kind of field where income is very well known, and hers doesn't make a lot, they don't have a savings.
I tell her it's beautiful, and clean it lovingly, because I care about her. Guess that's all you can do. She's a really awesome person, one of those glue people who bring everyone else together and welcomes all.
Thanks for the opportunity to vent.
