Location - Ephesus, Turkey, place of most spectacular ruins in all of the Mediterranean area.

How it starts: (not shown). After my son is chastised for kissing and hugging one too many stray cat, he gets upset with us and starts barking at the cat (not the smartest thing to do, but he is 8 ). The cat, of course, shows no attention. She knows he is not a dog.

A dog playing nearby, however, does not recognize his barking as human and hastes over to the scene.

Sees the cat....

The cat sees the dog...

For a second they stand there (the can assumes this threatening stance, with its back arched)

Then the can climbs up a tree...

The dog remains the winner... I was making photos against the sun and had no time to choose the correct angle... I hope you can see how the winner expresses her attitude to the cowardly cat. Despise...

Final act: the dog has run away, the cat is still sitting on the tree... It came down eventually, seemingly unperturbed

Sorry, it was all unprepared, I should have photoshopped it. But the sheer fun of this scene, amidst the splendor of the ruins, in noon/daytime sun, reminds me that glory passes... life goes on, however. One day I shall post photos of the ruins. They are amazing.

Ha ha...the dog got the last laugh on that one! I have seen many cats chase big dogs away but with a tree close by I guess
it was probably the safer choice!

Very cute story. One day my Newfoundland appeared with a large mark in the shape of a claw on his nose. It remained with him for well over a week and when the vet came (she makes house calls) I said I figured either a cat or a raccoon had visited. She said it was probably a cat and admonished Griffin not to be too curious about other animals! He is a real honey, but I can imagine him sticking that big face into someplace where someone little and fierce was lying in wait!

How cool to come across an amusing spontaneous situation like that! That must be a pretty incredible location you are at now Crasru! Would love to see more ruins photos if you ever start a thread like that anywhere... :))

The idea of your son barking at the cat and the cat being all... "Um, yeah. You are NOT a dog kid." is hilarious to me.

Cute -- especially your son's Big Bark. It looks absolutely gorgeous there, Crasru. More pics, please!

I am editing our tons of photos taken in Istanbul, Pergam, Troy and Ephesus. We had only 8 days, but rented a car and drove along the Ionic coast, too. My husband is an excellent driver so he would make 700 km a day on their mountainous terrain! Do not even know where to start!
