We're going to NYC this Thursday for five days. It's going to be a short trip. My mother is originally from area and we have some friends/family we'll be meeting up with for meals and things but otherwise we're free to do whatever we want. I have probably been to New York about 20 times I haven't been in about 13 years. My husband and my six year old have never been before. What are some good kid friendly activities?

Ice skating in Central Park. I don't know if the petting zoo at the Park is open in winter but the kids love it.

Not a kid idea, but any chance you'll have a moment to pop into any of the PS vendors?? I had an AWESOME time trying on all sorts of gorgeous bling at some vendors! And knowing you love coloured stones- go check out the bling at DBL!!! :appl:

Otherwise, Mary Poppins is playing on Broadway; the hop on/hop off tours would be interesting; Central Park; FAO Schwartz toy store...
and that's only some of the things we WANTED to do but couldn't when we were there last month, because of the hurricane. Hope you and your family have a SUPER FUN TIME!! Enjoy!

My (then) 4 and 6 year old loved the Children's Museum, followed by an ice cream sundae at Serendipity. They also really liked the Natural History Museum and loved taking a ride around Central Park in a horse drawn carriage (something you don't see that often here in Atlanta!).

Ooh, you and the kids are going to have so much fun!! I love NYC around the holidays! And it shouldn't be too crowded since it is not too close to Christmas.

Check this link out-very kid friendly.

Max Brenner for dessert in Union Square is a good alternative to Serendipity on the upper east side and don't forget Dylan's Candy Bar!!

Thank you for the ideas :)
I'm going to see what I can find online tonight.
