I am so confused! We have a brand new fridge and it has been working perfectly for the last month. Then last night it decided to freeze everything in the fridge compartment! And we just went grocery shopping

Anyone know why this would happen? We are having a real cold snap now, could that cause it?

The temp outside wouldn''t usually cause an issue like that. Could you have adjusted the temperature by mistake when unloading the groceries? I''ve noticed that the temp required in my fridge changes based on how full the fridge is. So if it''s empty the normal temp is too cold and will freeze things. Also, make sure the temp gauge is adjusted properly. I once though I was making our wine fridge warmer and instead I made it way too cold.

No, it has been on the same setting since we bought it, we just turned it down. If anything, the fridge is fuller now that is was a couple of days ago! This is really a mystery to me...

we had a problem if the fridge was very full and something was too close to something in the fridge. i know that sounds crazy but toward the top on the left hand side there is a part, i don''t remember what, that would cause it to get to cold if something was up against it. sorry for the lame description.

My fridge is freezing things: Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge''s the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.

A tip from Gerard in Georgia: My Sears ( Frigidare built ) refrigerator suddenly started freezing thing in the refrigerator compartment. I started to replace the cold control, not having found any other problem, when I discovered that the plastic air deflector at the top rear of the frig had been knocked off. I replaced it and all is OK. I thought you might add this to your suggestion list. As you know, the deflector directs the freezer air toward the front of the frig and the rear of the cold control, which is now functioning properly. Luckily, I found this before rushing out to purchase the control

Ours does this ALL the time

For us, it''s because ice builds in the back of the freezer and then blocks up the back of the freezer/fridge, so the fridge ends up freezing all our food, and the ice subsequently melts later and we get puddles on the floor. Might be you need to clear out accumulated ice in your freezer. We get maintenance to come up and do it every few months.

This sounds most likely since it was right after shopping and the fridge is only one month old. I''ll check it out!

It could be a bad Defrost Timer. We have had that problem before and had to replace it. Call for a service, but I would bet you just
got a bad one. So sorry.
