I will miss him. Didn't always agree with him and sometimes he was too left or too right for me. Saw him on tour with Dennis Miller a couple years ago and it was a good show.

I have to add that his fondness for Trump has been apparent in his shows these past few months. It was too much and Krauthammer called him on it repeatedly.

I am thrilled with this news!

So pleased. Now I don't have to feel guilty for regularly watching "Bob's Burgers!"

I think it is interesting what Red said in her post about seeing O'Reilly with Dennis Miller and "it was a good show". I think that part of the problem with some of these "news" shows is that they are "opinion pieces" at best, and out and out "entertainment" at worst. I think that people forget this, and think of them as "news" shows, as if they are filled with facts and not just opinions, that may or may not be supported by facts. Everything has a certain slant or amount of bias, but in an actual fact based news show, hopefully that is limited. My DH and I watch PBS news hour and I always says that it is too boring :) As to being surprised he lasted this long, I'm not, because it is really all about revenue. I was listening or reading something about Fox and how it came into being and has evolved and it is pretty fascinating and disturbing at the same time. I really hope that the spotlight that is being put on the truth, facts and accountability with have some impact. Who knows. And yes, I do think this all applies to any "news" channel. I really wish integrity counted some something, but being hypocritical and misogynistic seems to rule the day. SAD!

Oh I'm sure he will land at another network where people who can't find their own state on a map can clap like seals for him. The smart people won't pay a dime to see whatever he's shoveling out.

Anyone who thinks any of the cable networks nightly pundits are news is deluded. O'reilly is in the same boat as Rachel Maddow, Sean Hannity, Chris Matthews, et al. He was not my source for news nor should any like him be for anyone. Its entertainment and ad revenue for a network.

Hey Red, I hope you know that I was saying, I think, that I knew that you didn't think he was "news".

A CNN report claimed early Thursday morning that the former "O'Reilly Factor" host will get a "staggering amount" worth tens of millions of dollars. 21st Century Fox reportedly incorporated language in the new contract that gave them "outs" if need be.

Yea, that will teach him.

What happened to moral clauses. Where my husband works you would lose everything including the part of the pension that they paid in.

Tp give him such a large payout is absolutely ridiculous imo

No worries. I think you are right in your assessment of these types of shows which means all types and flavors. Not just Fox News. I like Tucker Carlson, Brett Baier, and Chris Wallace on Fox. O'reilly could be tedious and also argumentative. I have read he was an ass to staffers. I think a lot of men his age are asses if they are in high power positions.

He stayed on the air so long because he got high ratings. So the parent company probably found it cheaper to just pay these women off.

For the life of me I cannot understand how someone could listen to Howard Stern. Personally when Bill O'Reilly came on, I switched the channel.

But even the weirdos have an audience, it seems.

What does NSFW stand for?
Not Safe for Work (i.e. if you turn the volume at work up and a colleague is offended, you're in deep poop)

When I was a high school teenager and then a coed, I was considered "hot." Among other problems this brought me were ugly gross horny old goats just like BOR, who, because they ran the world in th 70s and 80s,ran their foul filthy mouths right at me. I was an introvert and kind of sheltered and I had to endure it from profs, TAs, alums, customers where I worked. This is why I'm thrilled that disgusting predatory lech was canned---I feel some vindication for what I had to put up with btw 16-30.

It is about time and FOX knew about O'Reilly's despicable disgusting behavior for a long time and the only reason they did anything about it now was they had no choice. He became more of a liability and they were losing advertisers.
Shame on all of them for waiting so long after they knew about him and his horrible behavior. :knockout::nono:
