Ok, I have found that on PS a lot of people post pictures of their cats/ dogs/ animals and bling. Not too many people have their face as their avatar.

On another forum of mine, it's weird if you DON'T post a picture of yourself as your avatar. Animal avvys are unheard of :P

Has anyone noticed this with their other forums? Do you think most of use prefer to be anonymous on here?

Just something that I noticed :Up_to_something:

Maybe because diamonds can make you a target for crime.

I used to have my face on here, but I have tried to remove it from most of my accounts because use the same name on most of my forums and on a few others there are some creeper dudes that don't expect chicks on their boards and when you have your face on there you start getting creepy PMs because they think they have a chance just bec you're a girl.

agreed. I have posted a pic or two, but none have been really close up pics. I think when talking about high priced items you own you dont want your identity plastered all over it.

Hey, at least you're admitting it ;)

I have seen people pictures! I had mine at one time and so have others.

I kind of know people on this forum by their rings or diamonds or watches! It always throws me off when people change avatar pictures!

I agree.

When people change avatars I'm like... "Who is that???" ha.

Honestly, I'm not comfortable posting a face picture as my avatar. I have jewelry that's much prettier.
Or kittiiiiieeeesssss

And beyond this ... even having a "gendered" type of photo, like jewelry or a cat, tends to get your different responses than a techy diagram, a plain stone, or whatnot. Dreamer started a good discussion of this back in RT a while ago, and I have to say, having gone between "girlier" avatars and the one I use now, I get more responses from newbies. Looks like even with a chick name, something about the default masculine image garners a respectful response. Depressing ....

thb is an interesting study in this. He *is* a man, but has a "feminine" av and in RT he does not command the - I don't know what the word is, adulation maybe? from 1/2/3post newbies that Stone, CCL, Karl, etc. do. His writing style screams "male" to me, too, so I think you're right about the av... I guess I'm just up a creek ::)
